Had a nice meal with my husband and 4 year old son. The fresh calamari antipasto was excellent! We ordered the pizza margherita for our son. The knowing waiter asked whether to hold the basil - good call, as it would have been picked off by our son anyway! My husband loved his arrabbiata penne. For dessert, my son's vanilla ice cream came with a happy face made out of berries - cute! Delish tiramisu for mom and dad. On the way out, couldn't resist a photo pop with the orange Vespa. Good times!

This place is charming, and a great find. It's one of Giacomino Drago's many restaurants in Beverly Hills, but it's a little more off the beaten path of Canon Drive, where his famous and highly-respectable Il Pastaio is located. Il Buco is on Robertson Boulevard, and there aren't any bars or other restaurants right in the immediate area so it doesn't attract quite as big of a crowd. However, this makes it a sort of hidden gem that affords you a better chance at last-minute reservations and not-so-hasty service.

About five days before a girls night out, I attempted to make Saturday night reservations for Il Pastaio but without luck. I then looked into other Drago options in the area and discovered Il Buco. I made reservations for 7:30. We parked on the sidewalk and trekked just a little ways to the restauarant. The host was friendly and geniune, and the atmosphere was warm and very romantic. The space is divided into two areas, with one side being a little more lively and loud (where they also keep their wine collection along with an upstairs banquet balcony), and the other side being a main dining area that is more intimate and quiet (this is the side you enter in on). We were seated in the main area and it was great to be able to talk and hear one another. Our waiter was wonderful, with a lot of patience and a great sense of humor. We ordered a bottle of wine that two of us shared (William Hill Cabernet ... incredible for $32), and my other friend ordered a peach Moscow mule that was the delicious. For our entrees, we had the tortelloni di zucca, the salmon, and the pennette siciliana. All were incredible. The pumpkin tortelloni was perfect, and I would order it again in a heartbeat.

I will also note that our bill was not outrageous in the least. It was under $100, and for that price the experience was all the more satisfying. I hope to return to Il Buco in the very near future, even if for the exact same meal.

Very good, reasonably priced Italian bistro. We had a mixed salad, that was nothing special, followed by an excellent homemade pappardelle pasta. Service was attentive, but not overwhelming. I would definitely visit again.

Had a business dinner here recently. It's quiet, so conversation is easy. Friendly and efficient service. Shared a pizza (which was excellent) and I then had a wonderful crab risotto, one of the specials offered. Limited wine list, but the owner recommended a solid Puglia red.

Overall, a good experience. Would definitely return.
