Description: Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; housemade pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and housemade soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch. Winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2007.

“Amazing Experience!!!”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

We went to Il Fornaio for dinner during our trip to California at the beginning of August. We had a really amazing experience. The manager Giuliano was walking by our table and introduced himself. We immediately felt like we were talking to an old friend. The food was great and the prices are more than reasonable. During dinner we talked and got to know Giuliano. On our last day there we went back to say by to him before driving to San Francisco. He asked us to text or email him to make sure we got there safely. I did text him that night but I guess it didn't go through because the next morning he emailed me to make sure everything went well. Thank you for everything Giuliano! Awesome!!!

“Italian food? His nonna would roll in her grave!”
Reviewed August 22, 2014

If this place wasn't around the corner from Rodeo Drive, it would go bust within a week. The Italian waiters, with attitude, were pleasant enough but the food left a lot to be desired, namely authenticity. The kitchen needs a lesson in the most basic of dishes. My Ceasar Salad consisted of a large portion of cos lettuce leaves, with a hard boiled egg cut into quarters and a dozen fine slices of pecorino cheese on top. The "special dressing" tasted like nothing more than a little olive oil. Where were the Italian flavours: no garlic, no anchovies, in fact no flavor just boring! My partner choose linguini seafood, poor quality ingredients and drowning in an acidic tomato sauce, consistent with what one would expect at a cheap pizzeria!

“Good”
Reviewed August 10, 2014

Our hotel sent us there and we very much enjoyed it.
Queues can be long but our concierge has obvious contacts and we were seated at an excellent table straight away.
Good varied menu, excellent products and service.
We liked it very much and would love to go back.
Thank you
