Description: Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; housemade pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and housemade soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch. Winner of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2007.

This was a reliable quick place for dinner, but nothing special. I had the ravioli stuffed with butternut squash-way too high calorie.

Thanks for taking the time and provide us with your comments. Only receiving our guests' feedbacks will allow us to improve and do better. Even though we have few items that are high in calories, we also have a lot of health and low calories options. Being Italian as the chef at this location we always try to offer quality, authenticity and healthy dishes to our customers so to represent the so popular Mediterranean cuisine that I can assure is healthier than many others with less calories but also less taste. I hope to meet you on your next visit so to be able with the chef to prepare a tasty dish that will also look good on calorie count, Grazie Mille e arrivederci, Maria

We go here often. The grilled chicken and duck are much better than elsewhere. The rosemary seasonings and char-grilled flavors take me back to Tuscany every time. The vibe is energetic and the staff well-trained, knowledgeable, quick to make suggestions. It's our favorite choice for lunch while in Beverly Hills. There's also outside dining which can be very pleasant.

I visited the LA area with two of my girlfriends for 4th of July weekend. It was one of my friend's birthday, so we decided to have a nice dinner in Beverly Hills. We were walking on Rodeo Drive, and looked up and down for restaurants but it was mostly retail clothing stores, so we went to the next street over and found this charming restaurant. I ordered the Pennoni alla Vodka which is large past stuffed with pink sauce (vodka cream) and bacon (yum). It was only 16.99, and I was expecting the prices to be a lot higher! I'd say the value is good here. The lemonade I also ordered tasted very fresh and homemade.

Another plus about this restaurant is that they have several outlets handy for you to charge up your phones. Because let's face it, by the time you've taken a million pics of Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills in general, you're left with 16% battery life by 4:00p.

Our server (forgot his name) was very friendly and attentive. If ever in the area, I will return to this restaurant!

We came here mainly because of its many good reviews here on Tripadvisor. To us this is not a cheap place, being students traveling long to get here. Therefore we had high expectations and really wanted to have a nice evening. We made reservations online, which we appreciated being possible. When we got there, they were very busy and we had to wait some time before getting a table, despite our reservations, but we weren't in a hurry and didn't mind all too much. We got a table very close to two old men, just like I read here that some people complained about. This somehow made us not feeling really comfortable in talking since it felt like we were just disturbing our neighbours. On top of that it was extremely loud, since the place was full and the table was right next to some sort of a station for the staff. Conversation was basically impossible! I think we were kind of unlucky with the table though, so maybe it would be much better for other people some other time.

Our waitress was friendly, but obviously too busy so we never got to know her. By getting to know her I don't mean anything personal, but it would be nice to interact more and get advise on what to eat and small talk a bit. Being pretty unfamiliar with how to eat Italian (How many dishes to order/Sharing/What's a main course etc.) we also hoped to find out a bit about how you usually do it, but since it was too much to do or we simply didn't fit in. We got a complementary appetizer, which was nice and the host was friendly. The pasta was good, but the chicken a bit dry and the portions not so big. The two men next to us assured us that they weren't on top of their game and that food and service usually are a lot better, so maybe we just were out of luck again. When we were done we asked for the check, since it still was too loud and we were disappointed with our romantic evening out. We just realized that if we wanted the evening to be romantic we had to go elsewhere.

+: Friendly staff, Plenty of food choices, Prices reasonable for Beverly Hills.
-: Too many tables for the room, Not enough staff to keep them attentive and make the guests feel special, Not the best food when I was there.

Would recommend you to get a better, more private table if it is meant to be a romantic date and to make a reservation online. It is really simple!
