I just went to Mastro's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills. This used to be my favorite steak house since the Palm moved from West Hollywood to Beverly Hills. The food was just average. It was over salted, and just ok. Now this is not a Sizzler's or just any old Steak house. This used to be the best of the best. Now, it's back to Wolfgang's up the street, or Flemming's down the street, or the New Palm across the street. It's to pricey not to be really really good. Service was still nice, but hey, not enough to not enjoy an expensive middle of the road meal.

A very popular restaurant. We pre-booked and on arrival didn't like the table offered so we chose a different table and there was no problem with organising that. The staff were generally very helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes available. The lighting is subtle/atmospheric. The standard of the steak is great but fairly expensive, but there is a good wine menu, which is not too pricey. The sides are big enough to share between all. There was also a live band playing and although we moved on after our meal, with hindsight wished we had stayed longer! Great evening with friends.

Wow. Delicious dinner and amazing service!! Go for the seafood tower and the filet!! We also split a baked potato (it was huge) with all the fixings and Brussels sprouts. Mmmm I think I'm still full!

Outstanding!!

We visited Mastro's Steakhouse on a Sunday evening. The Restaurant although a little dark was very busy with live music and a menu that showed an impressive range of steak and seafood.
The Lobster Cocktail appetizer was nicely presented but essentially a lobster in a bucket which was a little large for a starter. The fillet steak was beautifully cooked and couldn't be faulted although the Lobster Mashed Potato just seemed like an idea which didn't really work.
The service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. I'd highly recommend trying Mastro's if you visit LA. The only criticism would be it just seemed a little too dark at the table. If your waiters are using torches to show you the menu you should do something about the overall lighting.

Have not been to Mastro's for a couple years but was looking forward to the evening. I am not sure why this place gets a bad rap in reviews. We arrived and had a drink at the bar at the entry, chairs were available and the bartender was fast to make a unbelievable martini. We had forgotten that you get a shaker with an equal amount that's in your glass. It may be a $21 martini but rivals in quantity so the price is not really an issue.

We made our way to The Penthouse on the 3rd floor and we were seated at a bar high table near the patio. Great location. Mary was our server and she was very busy but took good care of us (that blue cheese was amazing Mary!).

Our guest for the evening had never been and he told me to do the ordering. We started with the Caesar salad (thought I died and went to heaven on A SALAD!). Then we all had the bone in Filet (12-oz) along with a big basket of perfectly cooked fries. It just does not get any better than that.

So final tab for 3 was $377 before tip. We all drank a lot and had a nice relaxed evening chatting over good food and a beautiful room with beautiful staff, both M and F.

Over the years I feel they have polished their "look and vibe" and it feels very LA and a bit like dinner theater (in a great way).

$125 a piece to drink as much as we pleased, have a great salad, perfect steak, perfect yummy fries, great atmosphere and staff . . . what's to complain about assuming you can spend this kind of money for a memorable meal? I've been to plenty a restaurant where the alcohol pour is horrible and the food blah with a crummy staff to boot. I personally would rather spend my money at places like Mastro's. Loved it the first time 10 years ago and have never had a disappointing time.

Three level, three bars, different rooms and vibes, a little something for everyone!

Being that it was a Saturday night the service was on the slower side. Being that it was a Saturday night among great company we were in no rush and the slower paced service was absolutely perfect. It was much better than being rushed so they could turn the table.

Note to self: have never done a simple salad, steak and fries at Mastro's but it was AMAZING and a great combo with the martinis! Oh wait we also had the sautéed mushrooms...

Enjoy the place if you have the budget. I just cannot see a downside other than it be quite a few stars in the price category!
