Located in what I would call the suburbs of Beverly Hills, Avalon is a very nice, spacious and clean hotel. It's a short 15-20 minute walk to Rodeo Drive which was the main reason we chose this affordable hotel. After Rodeo Drive, we headed to Century City Westfield and a taxi ride back to Avalon was about USD$12, so it's not too bad after a day's shopping.

Upon arrival at Avalon, we were greeted by friendly staff and Matt (I think that was his name), who was at reception was very accommodating and even helped us two females with our luggage to our room.
When I asked him about WI-FI he advised they didn't come complimentary but as it was our first time at Avalon, he gave us complimentary access for 24hrs which was a thumbs-up!
He was also glad to provide us with the complimentary bottles of water a day earlier for helping the environment by not using their housekeeping service for our 2 nights stay.

Our room was located in the Beverly Tower (behind the main hotel lobby) and came with a king bed. It was one of THE MOST SPACIOUS room (on par with Vegas) we had during our stay in the States.
Upon entering the room, the radio was playing with smooth RnB beats, so that was a very nice welcome to such a cool suburb. There was a very large TV, a desk, a large bathroom with the shower/bathtub combo. The shampoo, conditioner and shower gel was all a first I've seen. They weren't in the mini bottles, they were large (500mL?) pump bottles which weren't for your taking, only for use during your stay. If you wanted a bottle, you had to purchase it. I thought this was kind of a great idea, cos it saves plenty of plastic bottles from ending up in the bins.

The attached Oliverio Restaurant had friendly staff. By being a hotel guest, you get a discount when dining at this restaurant.

As we were off to Anaheim by coach bus departing from the nearby Crowne Plaza hotel, it was an easy walk with our luggage from Avalon.

Overall, it was a fantastic stay and would recommend Avalon to friends intending to visit Beverly Hills.

The hotel is tucked off the street in a hidden location and has the charm of the 70's retro style 3 floor motel but with all the modern amenities. It's wrapped around a peanut style pool with cozy cabanas for dining or drinking and the restaurant serves both inside and outside seating. The food is excellent, the ambiance pool side makes you feel like you are on a tropical vacation even though we were there on business. The staff and service level is amazing, from the front desk to the valets the service is friendly yet impeccable. The rooms are quiet soothing, sea foam greens (normally not my favorite) with small but nicely appointed bathrooms. My only issue is a bit of noise because it's a 3 floor walk up style so you do get a bit of sound from people going past the door, and a bit of traffic sound, but not unreasonable. There are also two additional buildings one on either side of the main that are conversions from apartments that are more tucked away and quieter with bigger rooms. My only caution would be getting a room that overlooks the pool because sound really travels, and although the pool area is closed off at 10, if you are an early to bed person this would be a noisy place to be. Great places to eat all around the hotel....Overall impression, awesome, I'd definitely come back....and good value for the money in Beverly Hills.

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the pool area if you don't like noise, but main building classic rooms are very nice.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Avalon. Nice Hotel, Very very friendly staff, great service, very helpful. We were very pleased and happy with our room and the bathroom. The hotel was located nicely, a bit far from Hollywood, but very close to Rodeo drive and other shopping. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here, no dissappointments. I would definitely stay again at the hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the pool in the main hotel complex

The Avalon hotel was absolutely fantastic! It is very conveniently located with cafés and restaurants a 15 minute walk away. Aesthetically this hotel was impeccable with a very clean bathroom and a massive bedroom! The staff were by far the best I had come across on my entire month holiday across the USA. In particular Tessla, Frances and Alessandro! They provided great advice for two 21 Australian girls in LA. In fact, not only did they give advice but every time we walked into the reception they always asked us what our plans for the day was/what did we achieve each day and genuinely cared, their level of service was incredible! I would most definitely stay here again!

I'm sure there are amazing hotels in Beverly Hills. But we prefer the Avalon and will only stay at the Avalon when we visit BH each year. My husband has to go for business every year and this is where we stay. It is very retro but has been updated. It has a long history of the very famous who have lived here or stayed here- including Marilyn Monroe. The pool area takes you back to a retro age of glamorous Hollywood - although small it is really nice and secluded. The have an amazing restaurant where we seem to eat almost everyday while we are there (best happy hour food and prices - try the ceviche- it's to die for). We just really love this place and it seems like a hidden gem - although I spot the Avalon in many TV shows filmed in the pool area. It has very distinctive colors and architecture. It is a great location to walk to Beverly Dr. And Rodeo drive. We usually don't have a car so I end up walking every where I want to go from the hotel. Grab a cup a coffee and enjoy a morning walk down Wilshire. The hotel has been renovated so tho it is retro the rooms have been updated still maintaining a retro feel. This is the best value for the area and the best hotel (we feel) for the value. Keep your eyes peeled - you never know who you might see at the bar or enjoying a bite to eat- it's a great place to hear movie business talk going on next to you or to see a Hollywood star enjoying dinner around the pool.
