My boyfriend and I had an event to attend nearby and were in a large group of guests staying at this hotel. Parking for a few hours only cost our guest $5. The hotel is just a few steps away from Spago and within easy walking distance of a 24 hour Rite Aid, Beverly Hills cafes, restaurants and shops as well as Rodeo Drive. Did not get a chance to eat at hotel restaurant or to use room service.

PROS: Massage at the spa was top notch, locker room had full amenities (everything you could need plus sauna, steam room, jaccuzzi, and co-ed mineral pool). Gyms had bottled water, headphones, tv's built into every machine. Super service from front desk (asked for two newspapers and got them delivered to the room in less than ten minutes), turn down service and offer of fresh fruit to be restocked in the room. Room had fully stocked mini fridge, large flat panel tv in the room and a small flat panel in the bathroom(!), fantastic and expensive toiletries from Agraia, luxurious bedding (with personally monogrammed pillows!!), large walk in closet with safe. It was also a Smart Room - close/open drapes and turn on/off lights at the touch of a button. Pool area was beautiful (jaccuzzi, cabannas, towels, lounge chairs, magazines, water with fruit slices and sunscreen provided). Library was used as a hospitality suite and everything you could imagine was provided - snacks, tea, beverages, both the LA and NY Times. The hotel staff were friendly, accomodating, plentiful and eager to serve. The decor in the lobby, lounge and rooms was beautiful and well tended.

CONS: The service at the rooftop restaurant was a bit slow, especially at the omlette station (but it was tasty). The business center has only 2 computers (but most people will use the in room WIFI, so no big deal). One of the attendants at the spa also worked as a waitress, which I thought was really strange. All minor quibbles.

Decided to try the hotel when it became part of the Amex Fine Hotel program as we stay in California regularly because of family. Thought the extra bonus dining gift of $250 might be worth it to try it. Have stayed in a number of the upscale hotels in BH and always felt welcome and never snubbed until the Montage. They overcharged on food service and had to have a discussion with the front desk staff for 1/2 an hour before they acknowledged that they were wrong. Trip was a gift from a relative who paid for it and told them to keep the charges private and email it to them. We got the bill and their answer for the mistake was its a computer problem. Sorry, I think its a human problem there- excuses, excuses, excuses. Made a mistake and will never do it again. Suite was small compared to others in the area. Pros: The concierge is nice and helpful. Gym is nice, pool is average. Food was okay but brutally expensive. No complaints about housekeeping. All valet parking in BH is expensive.

This was our last hotel on a 2 week trip around the US before we flew back from LAX to London and by far the most expensive - which may explain why it was also the most disappointing. Maybe my expectations were too high. On arrival after a long trip from the Californian desert, we were told by the extremely snooty girl on the check-in desk that our room was not ready. She did not make us feel welcome at all. Perhaps because we arrived in a Hertz rental Toyota rather than the Ferraris and Maybachs preferred by other guests. Left at a bit of a loose end we wandered up to the pool and then decided that as $17 for a yoghurt and $8 for a sliced tomato was a little silly, we would find the local Wholefoods (just around the corner) and buy a picnic lunch. There is a lovely garden next to the hotel at which we ate our picnic lunch this day, breakfast the next day (also from Wholefoods and Starbucks) and lunch again the next day. This little garden was one of the highlights of our brief trip to Beverly Hills. An hour came and went and still no news on our room. We went back inside to be told it was ready...oh sorry no it's not....so wandered back outside...only to have the friendlier girl at the desk chase after us to tell us it was ready. The room itself was smaller than any other on our trip (I think we paid for a Grand Deluxe) so that too was disappointing but the bathroom and TV were huge. The kids liked the electronic curtain shutting button. It was also nice to have a little balcony overlooking the aforementioned garden and from which we could see the Hollywood sign (very important to the children). We went back up to the rooftop pool which was lovely but I think I was missing the more down to earth atmospheres and people of other places we had stayed at...Beverly Hills is rather fake and plastic for me. I used the gym twice which was a fantastic gym - couldn't fault that. We ate at the restaurant Parq in the evening. It was practically empty our whole time there which was a shame as the food was good and the service excellent - not cheap though (apart from the children's menu which was very good value). We had originally been given four bath towels (as there were four of us) but two mysteriously disappeared overnight which was another annoyance as it meant that the children had to share our towels the next morning after their swim.
Overall this hotel is in an excellent location within Beverly Hills - we spent an hour or so wandering around Rodeo Drive and up to Sunset Boulevard, but I think it was very expensive for what you get, my first impression of the Montage was spoilt by the snooty front desk girl and I just found Beverly Hills itself fake and superficial. Must add that the doormen and waiters in Parq were very friendly and helpful.

We were re-routed to LA due to hurricane. We decided that since the trip ancelled lets stay treat ourselves to a great hotel for the night. We had stayed at Montage Laguna Beach before. We could NOT have made a better decision. The staff immediately embraced us due to our circumstances and could not have been any nicer. I am certain they upgraded our room and never told us as the suite was beautiful and huge. It had its own full-sized dining room table. Our son spent the day at the pool on the roof.

As a parent, you know how you feel when someone goes out of their way to be sincerely kind to your child. That was how the whole staff treated us from the moment we arrived until the moment we left.

The final touch was that Montage Beverly Hills has its own unique Montage Puppydog for children as part of the getting ready for bed service. My 5 year old son looked at it and said, "what a cute little fella." That is what my son then announced that the dog's name was. Little Fella has slept with my son every night since then.

Montage was everything I had heard it would be. Our suite was spacious, designed beautifully for everyone to be comfortable. They have thought of everything. Service was impeccable at all times. The spa was beautiful and the technician we had was amazing. The only negative was the service in the restaurant for breakfast was spotty some days but food was delicious. We would definitely go back to Montage and now would love to try Laguna Beach resort!

We were delighted with our time at Montage. The hotel staff were great and suggested many ways we could enjoy our stay at the hotel. They even gave our five year old son a kid size robe to keep!

Great location and super swank hotel and pool area. Makes you feel like you're a TinselTown Celebrity.
