The ownership and kitchen staff changed about a year ago and the cooking took a major step up. The new owner was previously at China Village. Portions (in the plus/minus $15 range) are large and usually very tasty. Liberal use of chili peppers on the Szechuan dishes. Fish dishes are very good.

I wrote a bad review for this place in 2014. They have new management and don't have the problems I complained about, but the dim sum takeout menu is smaller than it used to be. Too bad, that was our favorite.

This restaurant is undergoing a renaissance with much better food than it had a year ago, and the fact that it is attracting more customers shows that the word is getting around. The menu is extensive, and for those familiar with Chinese food, the choices are unlimited. We especially like the rock cod served with tofu in a black bean sauce, and the noodle dishes are excellent. Our main complaint is that the restaurant can get chilly, especially when the back door is left open.

We have eaten many lunches here. They have a special lunch menu that is very reasonable and filling. My wife usually has enough left for the next day's lunch. Good Chinese food.

King Tsin introduced fine Chinese restaurant food to the East Bay in the 1960s. There was none before. Maybe not quite as good as Kirin, a much later arrival, but very good and less expensive.
