The menu was varied, including vegetarian, with interesting side dishes and salads. For a very small room, probably 10 tables, most seating 2, one wouldn't expect a great meal. We were pleasantly surprised! My husbands beef was cooked to exactly his specifications and my pork tenderloin had a wonderful sauce, was tender and juicy. The salads were garden fresh with unusual and flavorful ingredients. Also great wine selection.

We're happy you found Julia's Restaurant so intimate. We seat around 50 and all have sat over groups of eight. Ãnd we're happy to hear you enjoyed both dinner and wine- Executive Chef Alaun and our Beverage Manager Jan and always trying new things.

See you soon I hope!

A year ago I ate here, & found it only so-so. But yesterday our dinner was extraordinary! I began with an endive salad, where each leaf was stuffed with delicious morsels. Then as my main course I had the appetizer chicken liver mousse. It was out of this world, by far the best I have ever tasted. Prices were quite low, for such exquisite cuisine.

The Club's website doesn't even mention the restaurant; so go to Open Table, where you can see the menu.

Julia's just opened in the historic Julia Morgan designed Berkeley City Club. The restaurant is located on the second floor in two high ceiling vaulted ceiling rooms. We were seated promptly by the friendly hostess who gave us the choice of two tables and devised that the room could be drafty.
The salads were excellent - beet, Caesar and endive and beautifully plated. The entrees of sole & pork tenderloin selected by our party were well done although on the small side, and served without vegetables or accompaniments. No sides were available on the menu to order. We shared a dessert on chocolate ganache which was artfully presented and delicious. The wine list was moderately priced and indicated member selected wines and winemakers who were women. We chose a MossBack Pinot noir that was member selected, light and interesting.
Main issues were with the service which tailed off noticeably by the end of our meal. Despite indicating tat we had a nearby event to attend, we were forced to ask for the check three times. The length of time between courses also stretched out.
Bottom line - a pleasant place for a leisurely meal with friends, lovely historic setting, tweaks to menu and service needed. Reserve through OpenTable. Menu not on website yet. Starters more interesting than mains.

I have now had three fantastic meals at brand new Julia's restaurant housed in the beautiful and historic Berkeley City Club - a Julia Morgan building hence the name. General Manager Gregory, Chef Alaun and their terrific staff make each visit a delightful and festive occasion. The delicious seasonal fare paired with exquisite wines (Gregory suggested a crisp white wine from Chile) gave us a memorable dining experience. My crab bisque was perfection and my husband had a persimmon and endive salad that he fell in love with. My duck breast and his flatiron steak were beautifully cooked and we satisfied our sweet tooth with Affogado - homemade vanilla ice cream with hot espresso poured on top. The dining room glows with romance, and soft lighting gives the flowers on each table a depth of color. Our friends were also enthusiastic. My veggie friend Margery said it was the best risotto she had ever had! Run do not stroll to Julia's....get there early so you have a chance to admire the grace and charm of a California heritage building from the 1920's.
