We stayed there 2 nights from Wednesday to Friday and paid around $115/night. Everything in San Francisco, at the time of booking, was at least twice the price and so were the nicer hotels in Berkeley. We considered Airbnb, there were a few offers around that range of price but you have to pay some fees and then, there's the parking issue (we planned to use the public transport). The BART is 2 blocks away from the hotel and we preferred Berkeley anyway, there's a cool friendly atmosphere and it's quieter.
The room (109) was nice and clean. The bathroom was spotless, no mold, rust or dirt. The fridge and microwave seemed to be of good quality. For that price, we were impressed.
The building is kind of cute with just one floor, a fountain in the center of the parking lot and therefore the whole complex. I believe it was packed and yet it was very quiet during both nights although we slept with the window opened.
Check-in went smoothly. The person (maybe the manager) was really nice, although sort of shy. The breakfast area is tiny and located in the lobby, we're tired of the plastic/foam "dinnerware" anyway so we decided to go across the street at Bread Works for breakfast (great choice).
We will definitely check the Rodeway inn if we're lucky enough to go back in the area.
