Very friendly staff who took time to explain unknown items on the menu . Delicious food and there was no rush to leave . A very relaxing evening .

We hadn't been to a Fourth Street restaurant since Ginger Island occupied this spot. Maybe we expected too much, so let me start with the one positive: the service was excellent!

The negative was that the food was not as good as it should have been. The salad was okay but the main course (a chicken dish) was way too salty. And, the place, while attractive, was very LOUD.

We had the sense that Zut! could do better -and maybe it will. But for us, this first visit was a disappointment.

I had lunch here yesterday with an old friend from Berkeley. We both ordered the Salad Nicoise with fresh tuna. It was quite sparse, decent, but nothing special. It is a very pleasant spot to sit and have a visit but the food is just average, not bad, just average.

Here's the problem - We love good food, but some "nice" restaurants frown on our arriving in bike clothes. I'm happy to say that Zut! is not one of them. Although it is an upscale restaurant, the wonderful staff at Zut! greeted us warmly and gave us impeccable service, even though we were hot and sweaty from a long day of riding.

Everything we had at Zut! was fantastic. The Pt. Reyes Blue Pizza was a real standout, bursting with flavor from the carmelized onions, fig balsamic vinegar, peppered walnuts, arugula, and of course - a healthy dose of Pt. Reyes Blue cheese! We also loved the Rotisserie Chicken which was succulent and moist. Topped off with a delicious fresh fruit cobbler, our meal at Zut! was fantastic and refueled us for another day of biking in the Bay Area.

We occasionally stop here for lunch while roaming the 4th street stores. You can sit next to the sidewalk or just inside the open sliding doors or all the way inside. We had Sunday brunch; our two meals consisted of Eggs Florentine and Poached Eggs on Hash. With a couple glasses of wine, we sat back and enjoyed the passersby’s. It’s a nice place.
