“Great outdoor resource right here in Berkeley”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Tilden features a wide range of hiking trails with stunning views of the Bay. You can choose an easy or challenging hike as strikes your fancy.

Lake Anza is great for swimming, particularly early in the morning when there are not crowds and the mist is still moving over the surface of the water. It's great to have this space right here in Berkeley

“A great place for everyone! ”
Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

Tilden Park is a great place to have fun, relax, bring the kids or explore on your own. The reason is that it is connected to the entire East Bay Parks system which is a collection of some of the most beautiful secluded, forested park areas in the country. Without a doubt.

Be sure to do your homework in the entire area because there are many private park areas that you can reserve (I think you can reserve some areas, but please call and check that out!) and some are first come, first served. They are great for outdoor birthday parties, family picnics, etc. But if you're doing anything where you're inviting other people, be sure to call and check to see if you can reserve an area before you get there and it's already taken!

The East Bay Regional Parks system also has its own police department, so they have regular, full fledged police officers constantly driving around on patrol. They also have their own SWAT team!

The BEST piece of advice that I can give is to keep this phone number handy and on you when you're visiting Tilden or anywhere in the East Bay Regional Parks system. The number is (510) 881-1121. That is the telephone number for the 24 hour Park police dispatch center. You can call it from a cell phone and immediately get any type of non-emergency OR emergency police help.

The Park police are always nearby anywhere you're at, so response times are quick. I say all this not because it's a bad place, it's not. It's just because you're out in the forested outdoors and if you need any kind of help, you should know who to call. Please be sure to program that number in your cell phone or somehow always keep it on you. I would always recommend bringing a cell phone to the parks because it can always come in useful; and then just put the Park police 24 hour phone number on your speed dial for easy access! :)

“Good place for a hike”
Reviewed July 10, 2014

We have been on a few trails throughout the park. There are a ton of trails. It's good exercise and the views are nice. As for Lake Anza, it's really dirty with algae, so I wouldn't go near it.

“Amazing Views of Entire San Francisco, Oakland Skyline”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

What a great few days I've had in this park. Insane hills above Berkeley and Oakland. Great park! I went to a wedding in the park and it was perfect. Great public spaces. GREAT rangers and employees. Highly recommended for families and adventure seekers.

“Peaceful park above the bay”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

We attended a family wedding in the park on Memorial Day. The park is high in the Berkeley hills, with plenty of space for recreational activities and get-togethers. Very lush foliage, at least that time of year, and beautiful views of the bay as you drive from the park to sea level.
