There's always parking at the South end of the Berkeley Marina, and you won't get run into by anyone flying their kite - which could well happen at the North end! A walk out on the Berkeley Pier can be blustery, but there are no other views like it, anywhere!

beautiful shoreline walkway marred by so-so maintenance, bums, gang-bangers, and poorly trained dogs. go midday. parking is abundant but don't leave anything in view.

A marina is a marina, unless you have a boat there. The long pier raises this marina above the mundane, and the view of the Bay looking toward San Francisco is spectacular. While there, take the walking loop around Caesar Chavez Park, just to the north, especially great for kite flying, and seeing an occasional Western Grebe or Double-crested Cormorant.

The Berkeley marina sports a long pier that juts out into san fransico bay, providing great views especially at sunsets. The pier is several blocks long and at least in july, more windy and much colder than locations just a block or so inland, so consider bringing a sweater. The parking areas in the marina area include signs that would suggest vehicle break-ins are a problem and we did witness a security gaurd standing watch over a parking lot for a nearby restaurant.

The marina was set up with booths, food, carnival rides, bounce houses, and more. There was lots to do for the whole family. The fireworks show was fantastic and because it was a clear night you could also see the SF fireworks and other fireworks on the north side of the bay. Amazing! The only downfalls were that there were not enough restrooms or even port-a-potties so it was 30 min or more of a wait to use the restroom and they really mean it when they post signs that say traffic cannot leave until 11. I assume this was to leave 45 min for the foot traffic to leave before the cars started pouring out but the people in cars were getting antsy with the 45 min wait after the fireworks.
