Owner description: Almost as if we haven't lost a moment of time... Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley is still so reminiscent of the 60's that you will feel as if you have traveled back in time when you visit Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley. The shops and eateries are a mix of quintessential hippie-dom mixed with the current U.C. Berkeley modern day student. Both seem to blend together in a medley that makes shopping and eating here almost a cultural or historical trek as well as a great shopping one.

The heart of the counterculture/hipster/student shopping scene butted up against the campus. It has seen better days, but there are usually some artisans selling jewelry, etc. to amuse the tourists.

I'm not a bohemian college student any more, so the homeless youth sitting around with their dogs are just sad. Also, too much incense in the air, and tchockes for sale.

I wouldn't go out of the way to visit this strip. It really is a college town and not much more. The previous reviews were spot on. Mostly boarded up shops and kids buzzing on something.

This is teh epicenter of hippie culture. If you want to relax, enjoy a college subculture of great food and culture. Sure not to disapoint.

I work in close proximity to Telegraph, and I avoid it as much as I can. The street and sidewalks are dirty, it is an area frequented by young people squatting on the sidewalk with their dogs, panhandlers of other types, and booths selling "handicrafts" that don't particularly entice me. The great bookstore, Cody's, closed, leaving a huge hole. Moe's Bookstore is still there, and that's about the only reason I go to Telegraph anymore.
