“Good restaurant in Krasnaya Polyana”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2014

The Red Fox is located along the main street in Krasnaya Polyana (not Esto-Sadok as listed above in the address). I was there during the winter Olympics and looking for a place to eat Russian cuisine. As the Russia-USA men's ice hockey game was going on, there were no seats available inside. However since it was very warm outside, I was able to eat at one of the tables located alongside the restaurant. The restaurant itself is hard to find, just look for the Red Fox sign which stands out next to the British pub.

They have a menu in both Russian and English which is obviously helpful to everyone who doesn't understand Cyrillic. The lunch menu wasn't that extensive, but at least had enough options in which to choose from. I tried the Sochi pumpkin soup with a side of wild rice. The soup was very good as was the rice. The way the rice was cooked was very good and not just like your cookie-cutter ice you find at most restaurants.

Where they could use some improvement was on their choice of beer. They only had three choices, none of them Russian. It is kind of strange to advertise as being a bar & restaurant without a selection of beer. Otherwise I didn't see any issues. The waiter spoke English and was attentive throughout my visit. Prices were on the high side, but not as high for what I expected them to be for being Russia and with the Olympics going on. The bill still came to $35USD which is more than you would pay anywhere else. You will be paying high prices at all of the restaurants in the area anyways.

If you are in Krasnaya Polyana, the Red Fox is a good option to consider if you are looking for a place to eat.

“moscow prices exceeded”

this place has no soul, nothing special to offer and yet they charge you extremely high prices for very mediocre dishes.

good luck ordering, if you don't speak russian.

“Best reastaurant in Sochi area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

I was there in November 2013 and judging by the earlier review there'd been much progress - the service was speedy, food absolutely delicious and prices are average compared to other Russian restaurants in Sochi. Don't miss out on 'vareniki' and salad with Kamchatka crab! They also serve delicious complimentary bread and butter covered with spices as well as complimentary canapes from chef (one with mullet was so good). Easily the best restaurant in Sochi area!

“Tea for $35 dollars - enjoy, dear tourists!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013

I was there during international testing events prior to the Games in March 2013. I hoped to have a quick lunch, and had a decent pizza. I also asked for some drink, because I couldn`t find it in the menu right away and the waitress offered tea. When I was done, I got the bill. To my surprise, pizza cost 20 dollars (expected), and TEA cost $35 dollars! I was sure it must have been a mistake, but apparently it wasn`t. Welcome to Russia, where non-alcoholic beverages cost twice as much as main course!
Management refused to settle this issue.
