“Nice and quiet....”

This was the perfect getaway for us. We flew back from manic New York City in the morning and by lunchtime we were in the serene surroundings of Samhach. The apartment is in the middle of nowhere so is the ideal retreat. If you are looking for a quiet place to cosy up for a few days, then look no further. Wood-burning fire and full Sky TV package mean you have plenty of comforts when indoors (and the owners had left a decanted dram of Aberlour for us - nice touch) and there are nice walks in the quiet countryside all around if you feel energetic. Lovely.

“The perfect highland get away”
Reviewed September 27, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We had an amazing time at Samhach . Property as described, everything catered for, and more so! My partner enjoyed the whiskey left for us so much that we visited the distillery from where it was made! The scenery, locally, was astounding, the property Situated in the most idyllic and tranquil setting. Driving to and from various trips was as enjoyable as the trips themselves. We really found it hard to leave.

“Cosy little cottage in a wonderful location”
Reviewed September 20, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

This little cottage is an ideal get away for those looking for tranquility. The cottage is so snug and warm and cosy with every facility necessary.

The location is excellent for exploring - a car is essential, you can thoroughly investigate around the whole of Loch Ness in just a couple of days taking in some absolutely stunning landscape and views to die for.

It was just wonderful to return to our little retreat after an energetic day.

Although the owners were away during our stay, they were extremely helpful with all our communications and we hope to return one day to meet them.

Would highly recommend the RIB boat trip on Loch Ness from Fort Augustus, although maybe a little pricey it was exhilarating!!

“Fantastic!”
Reviewed September 20, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We went to Samhach with our daughters aged 11 and 12. The location is idyllic - so peaceful, in the middle of nowhere. We loved the outside area and even though we had rain, the girls loved playing outside and the chickens were a big hit. Also the eggs which were delicious. The accommodation was comfortable and had everything we could have needed. The weather was too warm for the fire but I can imagine in cooler weather it would be lovely to curl up on the sofa in front of a roaring fire. Ros, Graham and Noah were so hospitable - Ros took in our shopping for us and when we found out that the milk was missing she very kindly gave us some of hers, for which we were very grateful . Leaving a decanter of Scotland's finest was a lovely touch - so welcoming. We would love to go back - it is such a peaceful, beautiful part of the country. Highly recommended!

Surrounding area was lovely and quiet. The scenery en route to the let were beautiful and to be honest epic! The let itself was well furnished, and the Sky HD was great (coming from someone who has never had sky!). Its a bit of a drive to Fort Augustus, and Inverness (which at the time of booking we didn't realise) but that wasn't too bad. I'd recommend visiting the Falls of Foyers and Fort Augustus.

“A little place in heaven.”

We arrived after 10 hours of travelling, not to be disappointed. It was just what we wanted..... peaceful, away from it all and a log fire!! Roslyn and Noah gave us a warm welcome, showed us around, introduced us to Rueben the dog and the chicks and left us to settle in, the wee dram of single malt a surprising added bonus. Graham introduced himself to us on Sunday, a very friendly chap and we spent a pleasant hour getting to know him and Ros. It is one of the nicest holiday lets we have stayed in bar none. Everything was top notch, really comfortable bed, best nights sleep we've had for ages; piping hot water, lovely walk in shower and all you could need in the kitchen/lounge/ diner. Even had our own entertainment at breakfast courtesy of the antics of the chaffinches. When they say 'no hidden extras' they mean it, everything was included and we really enjoyed the daily fresh eggs. We soon got used to the narrow roads which weren't a problem as there is little traffic and managed to cover west to east coast clocking up over 2000 miles in the two weeks we were here. The scenery is stunning and varied from the mountains and lochs in the west to the pretty farmland and villages in the east. We went up mountains in a cable car, saw dolphins of Chanonary Point, visited castles, distillery, monuments and 'Over the sea to Skye'. Had delicious Mallaig prawns at the Tea Garden in Mallaig and the Inn at Dores where we had muscles and langoustines all very reasonably priced, the added bonus is that we were able to sit in the garden overlooking Loch Ness in the evening sun . We didn't find shopping a problem, picking up provisions at the local supermarket in Fort Augustus or at Tesco near Dores and Ros told us the big supermarkets deliver to Samhach if you want to shop on-line. There are plenty of walks in the area but can't comment on these as we both have limited mobility but there is plenty to do whatever your age.
Just want to say a big THANK YOU to Graham, Ros, Noah and Reuben for making our holiday so memorable, and God willing we will return.

“Still Perfect.”

After visiting previously during the autumn/winter, it was wonderful to experience the same peace and quiet in warmer weather. The house is still perfect, and is just as comfortable in the warmer weather, and certainly gains from being able to sit out on the decking in the open air, just soaking in the clean air and sun.

Graham and Roz are so helpful and friendly, and anyone staying at Samhach would do well to ask for advice and guidance regarding places to go, Applecross was a lovely little gem they put us on to!

I can't commend the apartment any more highly, just go, and enjoy!
