“Tranquil nature-lover's paradise”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

We love this Inn, its off-the beaten path, quiet, tranquil setting on the edge of the Back Bay (the secret tail end of Morro Bay). Surrounded by lush flower gardens and verdant lawn, it's a perfect getaway from our everyday busy lives, a throwback to an earlier, homey era. Rooms are large, clean, bright, and comfortably furnished. All rooms in the main building look out over the bay toward Montana d'Oro state park. Breakfast(included) is at the Back Bay Cafe, right next door, and the strong coffee is wonderful. If you're into nature and bird-watching, come here, especially during migration season.

Room Tip: For the best views, look for rooms in the main building. We've never stayed in the Cottage, Loft...

Just happened upon this gem. Road trip up the coast on the way to SF. Only problem was we couldn't stay longer. Good coffee in the AM and Wine and Hour's. in PM. Fire place as nights we cold but felt so good. Very small property so it fills up fast. Area is close to Pismo, SLO, and Morro Bay. Just loved it.

Room Tip: Get ground floor rooms with fire place if you can. Your door opens right on to Bay Bay.

We stayed in the cottage which was very spacious for the four of us, it would have easily accommodated 6-8 adults. The only unusual aspect was the front bedroom facing the road with large windows which we had to pull the blinds down even during the day to get some privacy.
The hotel was more like a high quality motel building and breakfast was taken in the local cafe using vouchers, this was not a problem but you needed to be up early if you wanted to guarantee your choice from the menu. The bay is ideal for those interested in nature especially birds, but was cool and suffered from fog during our stay so you may need to travel to one of the beaches close by if you want to spend the day on the beach and enjoy some sunshine.
The staff at the inn are friendly and helpful and the cheese and wine provided during happy hour was most welcome.

Room Tip: If you need to book for four or more persons try the cottage which is very spacious.

We took advantage of peaceful solitude when we arrived at this inn on the bay. Yes, it's not a B&B per say. I came home thinking what I would do with this place to make it more appealing. I would take one of the rooms and turn it into a gathering place for games, movies, and books to read. I would also incorporate a true breakfast that the guests could come to inside the inn. Yes, this would be a true B&B and then the online B&B site would recognize it as such and give patrons the discounts that are offered online. The breakfast was good at the cafe, but it got cold too fast sitting outside. It felt hotle-ish since we never met the owners. Yes, we loved the place and hope that the owners can step it up a bit.

Room Tip: Second floor is quiet. Choose a large window, or better yet get a room with a balcony.

Always restful and scenic. Maybe the most quiet place on the central coast. Rooms are clean and fresh. They really need to do something about upgrading wireless network as we were disconnected often.

Enjoyed our stay, room was clean and provided a nice view of bay. Explored the area in our bikes, we were rewarded with beautiful scenic views and wild bird sightings.

We stopped at the Back Bay for an overnight before heading up Route 1 to Big Sur. Its a very comfortable place with lovely views of a small bay from each room. We had an excellent king size bed in Room 209. Included is a basic breakfast in a cafe steps away. We also had dinner in a truly excellent Mexican seafood restaurant just across the street.

The bathroom was fine, although it is true as some reviews say that there is no natural light in them. There was a little noise from other rooms, but it was a matter of some guests having a bit too much fun.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would certainly come back.

Room Tip: We liked 209, but nothing seemed bad. A few rooms are pet friendly, so be aware if you don't wan...
