It's small and out of the way. How small? Six or seven tables and a counter inside and a few more tables outside. How far out of the way? Unless you already knew about Big Daddy Ross's Cafe, you would have no way of finding it on your own. It's located all by itself at the McAvoy Yacht Harbor in Bay Point, just past Shore Acres.
It seems a cafe has been there for some forty years, and the present owners have been running it for the last twenty or so. Not bad for a place that's practically hidden and has no current Web site. But maybe that's part of its charm. For those of us who love the place, we wouldn't have it any other way.
Most important, the food is great: delicious, plentiful, and reasonably cheap. And the service is superb. The owner and staff are wonderful people, everybody's friendly; it's a family enterprise where everybody is family.
The restaurant's only drawback: It's just open for breakfast and lunch. Still, that's enough.
