You would pay a lot of money if this hotel was in a nice place ($300-$400 per night in SF or LA). It's not! But the beds are so comfortable, the food is great and it's very inexpensive (Room Service is very reasonable). Prepare for some oddities with service. I made online reservations. Never got confirmed. So I called the hotel. They said there was no record of a reservation, so I made another. Arrived at 10 p.m. for check-in and found they had two reservations! We have never had smooth sailing with check-in, but it amuses us. The staff are very sweet and friendly.
We also had a very persistent maid banging on our door at 8:15 a.m., just wanting to know if we were gone yet, she was mortified when she realized she woken us up. So be sure to put that hilarious, "Whoa! Do Not Disturb" sign on the door if you want to sleep in. My sister is a hotel snob, she finally took a chance, zipping over from the 5 Freeway on a SF trip to stay at the Padre and now she is a big fan, even toying with the idea of making it a destination for a party. You will love this hotel!
