The Padre Hotel is THE hotel to stay at or hang out at while in Bakersfield, CA. The staff is extremely courteous - from the valet guys, to the security, bartenders, servers, and management (and everybody in between!). The Padre is very unique featuring a "fancy" restaurant (which is DELICIOUS!), a coffee shop, a more casual bar area with a pool table, and an upscale club. Also, on the second floor rooftoop is an amazing outdoor bar area that is beautiful and tons of fun to hang out at and relax with a martini (they make a mean lemondrop!) and people watch.... it has outdoor heaters and fire pits and plenty of seating and sometimes has live music as well - this was by far my favorite place to be. The crowd is a nice mix and appears to be a "who's who" of Bakersfield. The rooms are gorgeous and very sexy! The beds are comfy and immaculate - everything is brand new!! Book this hotel now! You won't be disappointed. The staff is extremely attentive and polite.... a special mention of thanks to Nick S - the manager at the front desk - he took special care of us and made our visit memorable. Thanks!

Room Tip: any room is great!!

This hotel is certainly a gem! Located in downtown Bakersfield near highway 99 and 158. Although the downtown area has wonderful lunch locations you certainly do not need to leave the Padre! The Farmacy offers breakfast (could use some healthy options) and the tavern type place had lunch and dinner. Enjoy live music on the second floor outdoor bar on most nights! Valet parking only for $10 a night. Service could use a little smile.

Padre has quite a history - read about it online or when you stay. It has been rebuild in the last year and a half into a very upscale ( but not price wise) clean trendy and comfortable oasis in Bakersfield. This is a one of a kind property and a must for people tired of corporate cookie cutter hotels.

two cautions - get a room away from the lounge - the bands will blow your eardrums out.
No fridge or microwave but they offered to both heat our meals and put our stuff in the fridge over night .

This hotel is right near the bus station, the post office and a couple of the most gorgeous turn of the century old buildings you will ever see.

Our first room was actually occupied by some oen else- our second room had only one bed in it and was right over the lounge, finally we got a quiet room away from the noise and it was great. check out the interesting decor you can create using barn doors! its a good idea and a great use of space. The staff is young and bright and eager to help and was so annoyed at the mistakes being made they comped us to a $40 breakfast the next day!

Beds very comfortable. Also make sure you can direct the vanes of the air conditioner because it is quite humidly warn in Bakersfield and you need he AC. Great cafe, great dining room and lounge!

Only drawback is that for free parking you park on the street! valet Parking is recommended at $10 a night. Internet is a also a disappointment- it exists but is not very connected.

Room Tip: Wonderfully updated hotel- a must for visitors to Bakersfield.

The hotel is a wonderful landmark that has been completely updated and the decor beautifully redone to bring a modern feel to it. The room we stayed in on the 8th floor was beautiful and had full views. Great beds. The hotel restaurant, The Belvedere, was outstanding, and there was another table that included the three owners of another top-end restaurant who were dining. Lovely, European feel and the energy is pointed toward making it a proud local landmark once again.

Thank you so much for your review. Yes, we worked hard to reinvent the "gem" that is the Padre, from its past glory to it's new magic! We look forward to welcoming you back again!
