I'm a long time "local" and over the years have seen and experienced the rise, decline, and fall of this restaurant in Yellville, a small town of 1300 people and only 2 sit down restaurants plus a Sonic, Subway and pizza place. The many times we've eaten there, the service has always been good to excellent. The ambiance has varied and I must rate it on the poor side more recently. The food, however, is a crap shoot. There have been times we've been well satisfied with not only their regular menu, but also the buffet. Other times, I would agree with some of the previous reviewers that they must have just hired a new cook or should fire the present one. In defense of this restaurant, the lovely little creek flowing next to it is presently dried up due to the most extreme drought in the region in half a century; and that person must have flown to reach the Mill at Harrison in 15 minutes (45 miles away, that's 180 mph average). They used to have large gold fish in the pond adjacent to the parking lot -- no longer. The dilapidated billboards on the highway entering town telling of their being featured in Southern Living magazine, this write up was from another century I'm sure. They have apparently recently downgraded the buffet, hours, and menu. On the plus side, they have good parking. For some, on the negative side, don't expect to use a credit card there. If you find yourself needing to eat around Yellville, you could do better.

We saw the sign and decided to give it a try. The service was a little slow however the food was good. I was stung by a wasp at the lake and my hand was swelling, Lisa gave my a bag of ice to stop the swelling. That was greatly appreciated.

On our way to Mt. Home, we saw the sign along the road advertising that they had been in Southern Living magazine so we decided to stop. I wish we had stopped at Neighbors Mill & Bakery in Harrison instead. The building looked interesting, like something out of the past with its front porch and neon signs; however, the outdoor atmosphere that another reviewer mentioned is long gone with a dried out creek bed and dead flora. Once inside the restaurant is drab and dreary, it has seen better days. There were very few people there which made us nervous. Service was good and friendly but slow. We reviewed the menu (which is VERY limited) and decided the SAFE bet would be a burger and a BLT. We looked at the salad bar but my husband was convinced this wasn't the place for it as the food looked like it had been sitting out too long in the heat. The BLT was fine, but the burger was a bit overdone and a little bland. The best thing we had were the fries. After driving another 15 minutes at stopping at Neighbors for a brownie we were so mad at ourselves for not having lunch at this beautiful and crowded restaurant.
