“Nice Building, Poor Service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

First impression from the lobby hotel is nice. They have good building and nice garden.
I got a room in the corner of the building, near the housekeeping room.
When i asked front office for extra towel, surprisingly, they told me to ask by myself to housekeeping room..

The most terrible things is the bathroom smell bad.. (i think its from the drainage system)
And also i cant sleep well, the housekeeping room beside me has their staff chatting at middle of the night and early in the morning. Plus there are two kids screaming around.
There are spider webs and dead insect in my room.

Breakfast is very simple and tasteless..

Room Tip: Avoid room near housekeeping room.. Too noisy..

I went to this hotel last september for a very short overnight stay as part of the Bromo-Ijen tour. Very nice hotel, the room was quite big, very clean and comfortable.I arrived there in the afternoon after hiking to Mount Bromo and it was fantastic to chill out in the swimming pool!! You also get free wifi if you have a smart phone. Though it is quite far from the Ijen crater (it was my second hiking excursion day), I had to wake up very early in the morning and travelled for more than 3 hours through a very narrow and horrible road to get to the starting point.
The food in the restaurant is a bit overpriced, if you are travelling low-cost you could easily go on the main road and stop and any of the hundred warungs available for a quick and cheap meal.
You may want to avoid going there during ramadan, the hotel is quite close to a mosque and the call for prayers can be a bit annoying. Apart from this, it's definitely a nice hotel

Had a short overnight stay here before we went for a hiking excursion to the Ijen's Crater the next day, before dawn. It's pretty far to our destination though. Needed to travel up to nearly 3 hrs of journey along the steep and narrow road to reach the starting point from this hotel.
At first impression, the premises seems to be well maintained but thought it was rather quiet for a hotel business. Perhaps, this time wasn't a peak season. Did not actually see many tourists around except a few transient visitors like us. The building is a single level property and has a decently sized swimming pool with beautiful landscape.
The coffee house was high ceiling and nice spaciously decorated. Again, it was too peaceful with only two occupied tables including us. It serves a wide variety of locals, Asian as well as Western courses . The food we had was good and it's pricing was surprisingly inexpensive. Cheap for a hotel standard, at least.
The room we had was an average one and bed was comfortable enough. Wished that the lightings in the room could be brighter instead of dimly lighted, so that the blood suckers are easily visible. Yes, there are plenty of mosquitoes cohabiting with the room occupants! Actually spent quite some time hunting & exterminating them. Anyway, the management was thoughful enough to have an electricity operated mosquito repellant provided in the room. Guess, this issue should be temporarily solved by conducting an immediate major fogging procedure and definitely needed the urgent attention of it's management.

Spend time over there during ramadan. Unfortuntaly, couldn't sleep because of the prayers of three different muezzins in the valley, making sleeping almost impossible. Place and location is great (as long as the weather is good). Prices at the restaurant are overrated for indonesian standards and you have no ohter choices to go for as your are in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of great ricefields. Rooms are basic (was not in the villa's, so can't tell for those).
No wifi, and if it is raining, after a great walk in the area, there is not much to do at the hotel itself.

This would have a lovely stay - nice room, great pool - however if you want peaceful nights sleep avoid this hotel. Not their fault but a mosque immediately over the back blasted its readings at full, and I mean FULL volume, until 11pm and from 3am in the morning. We paid good money for the suite which was lovely but were in direct line of one of the megaphones - it was even worse in the bathroom as the noise infratrated the hotel's ventilation system. Please do not think that I am being anti Muslim - but I do think the hotel should have warned us so we at least had a choice.
