the room is quite spacious ...too bad there is no one single bed room in middle level room. the one single bed room is only available for standard room which is a way too small and cramp, and the other room is a bit too expensive for a small town like this. there are several food stall nearby, but we can go on foot to aloon aloon to have more options to eat. however do not expect that much. eventhough there are a lot of food stall there, most of them sell the same food. fried rice and fried chicken. i wa hoping to find more local food of bondowoso but i guess i was hoping too much and i wish i just stayed at the hotel, ordered room service and saved my energy and time.

We decided to stay in Bondowoso instead of Sempol while visiting Ijen. The reviews of the accomidation at Sempol were not promising, and we wanted to stay somewhere decent.

This hotel isnt the newest place but for what you get it is good value and it has a huge pool. We arrived at the local bus station after a long journy from Surabaya. A bike taxi was only 15,000 Rp to the hotel for two people. It took 10 minuets.

We stayed in a budget room "in the back". Two single beds, cold water shower and a tv and included a simple breakfast 150,000Rp. It was a quiet room with a view of the pool. The staff were very friendly and spoke good english. There is a restaurant adjacent to the hotels main entrance that serves good local food for a great price. Large bintangs are also appropriately priced.

We decided to book our trip to Ijen through the hotel as we wanted to do it the following day and didn't have time or energy to arrange transport ourselves. I know it is possible to get a better deal if you email a driver and bypass the hotel.

Our trip to Ijen was amazing! We departed the hotel at 4:00am as discussed with the hotel staff. They provided us with a simple breakfast (bread and hard boiled egg). After the hike we asked the driver to take us to the sulphur factory. although he didn't know where it was he asked other locals and we made it there after a few wrong terns. I don't think many people visit the factory, but if you have a driver I would recommend it after a mourning Ijen hike. Bring two packs of cigaretts for the workers for an offering to take photos. We were back at the hotel at 2:30 without any issues the whole way.

Over all the value makes it a great place to stay and visit Ijen.

It is one of two hotels in the town. The breakfast is nothing special (especially if there is nothing else to eat except for fried rice :)). The rooms are basic and at a good price. One of the best things is definetly the swimming pool!

I got stranded for the night in Bondowoso and got dropped off at this hotel. The cheapest rooms at the back (130.000rp) are basic, but clean and have a fan. The huge swimming pool is a god's gift for refresment after a long day on the Javanees roads. Breakfast is basic.
It's a short walk to the alun-alun, where many food stalls at the pasar malam serve delicious meals. There're also plenty of warung makan in the area.
The next morning I took public transport to Catimor Estate, which is a much better base to explore the coffee plantations at the Ijen plateau and visit the Kawah Ijen crater.

This hotel definitely looks like it would have been great value for money a few years back, but lack of up keep makes the place a little overpriced by indonesian standards. We paid 250,000RP for a standard room. It had big cockroaches running around in the bathroom and there were dirty shoe marks on the walls. But the bed was comfortable and the linen was clean. The included breakfast in the attached restaurant looked like it was just re-heated from the previous night's buffet.
The pool was enormous, but we didn't use it because it was raining the whole time we were there.
Staff weren't overly friendly or helpful, with very basic english spoken. They said they could arrange a day trip to the Ijen Crater for 600,000RP, which we though was way overpriced. 350,000RP would be far more appropriate.
It is an OK choice for one night, but I'm not sure if there is many alternatives in town. Saw signs for Ijen View Hotel, which could be a better choice in Bonowoso.
