We had a great week at this beautiful place. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We had a problem with the first room we had as it had a funny odour and it was on the ground floor which I am uncomfortable with so we asked to be moved and they did this for us. Also, the building we were in had a couple who were very "noisy" and kept us awake most of the night but we were fine when we got moved.
We upgraded to the silver and would recommend that for anyone as you have the use of a designated pool and we had a bar b q for invited silver guests only on the Wednesday night. Food was good and it was nice to try some new experiences with the al a carte restaurants.
I would recommend that when you are booking you could request a second or third floor room. The only other suggestion would be to have staff come around the pool area to swap out your wet towels for dry ones!!!
We will definitely return!!

Room Tip: Second or third floor rooms are quieter Silver suites are close to everything and less walking to get to restaurants

Five stars!! Every bit of our Valentin vacation was a wonderful experience (except a day trip planned through one of their lobby vendors). The Valentin grounds, rooms, facilities, etc. were beautiful. The food was wonderful & the drinks ever flowing. The staff was wonderful as well. Ramon was a hoot and I could have sat with him afternoon after afternoon enjoying his drinks and "chips & salsa". Would book again in a heartbeat!

Our advice - book any excursions you may want to consider directly through tripadvisor.

Room Tip: We upgraded to a golden suite and found building 7 to be pretty central to all the places we wanted to go. They were quite (removed from the party pool), yet close to both the beach and main hotel areas (by cutting through bldg. 3) that we only had a short walk to anywhere we wanted to go.

My daughter booked this vacation for us after a lot of careful research. Since we had never gone to an all-inclusive before, we didn't know what to expect. It was a wonderful week in every way from the lovely environment to the great choice of restaurants. The staff was beyond perfection seeming to anticipate our needs and they were all so friendly and helpful. It is definitely a people pleasing attitude. We would definitely recommend it to anyone else considering a getaway and will certainly consider it for future vacations.
The pools were amazing and the amenities around the pools were just great.

Room Tip: Pick the third floor in Building 4,5,6. We had the third floor and were able to see over the tree tops to a wonderful view of the water.

My husband and I were at the Valentin 11/10-11/17. It was our first experience with an adults only, all-inclusive resort and all I can is we are HOOKED! All the previous reviews submitted by other travelers cover how lovely this resort is. What I would like to share are a couple of idea's that really made a difference in our experience there, or a couple I wish I knew before we got there.

1) If you are ocean people, consider bringing swimming goggles if you like to play in the water. My husband saw a barracuda and tons of swarming fish right on the beach, only a few feet out. Awesome!

For sure, bring your own double lined drink containers from home. Many times you are a ways away from the bar, and it can take the wait staff quite a while to make rounds on the beach. It gets HOT on the beach, and those containers keep your adult beverage cold and delicious. Many other people on the beach asked where they could buy glasses like ours.

We did not figure out until our last day that we could have gotten a boogy board from the beach staff. Don't to wait to ask, how fun!

2) If you are pool people, bring your own blow up raft from home. The resort was only 70% full when we were there, and we never once got a floatie because people hoard them. It's not worth the frustration. People who thought ahead had plain blow up mattresses that cost $10 at the local Target. We even saw people with the floatable noodles and blow up rubber duckies. Those people had a blast.

3) Comment relevant for both ocean and pool: Bring some kind of waterproof bag or necklace to carry your tip money and room key in. My husband tried just putting some money in a ziploc bag and putting it into this swim trunk pocket. More than once, we were lucky and caught it as it was floating away. Opps.

Pack your swim wear and sun lotion (high SPF on that first day) in a front pocket in your suitcase. The second you arrive, your going to want to strip, get a cocktail in your hand and hit the pool/beach. The staff will take care of your bags if your room is not ready, no problem.

4) Breakfast/lunch: Don't just eat what is out is prepared and set out for each meal. It is well worth the 3-5 minute wait at the grill where they will make you a fresh omellette, paper thin fresh fruit crepes or eggs ordered just the way you want. At lunch they have fresh fish/meats that you can order with the pasta bar. Don't be afraid to try something new, if you hate it, just order something else, no problem.

5) Dinner: The food at the all locations was good, but not excellent, but we did not care. Don't sweat it if you get a steak that is not perfect, just send it back and ask for something else. Your on vacation, just relax.

The hibachi restaurant called Ginger is wildly popular and I hear was very good, but we never got in because all reservations were filled by the time we got to front on line x2 attempts. My advice; if you want to try this place, plan on getting in line at 5:30 pm the day you want to go. (They do not take phone reservations, must line up b/4 the 6:00 pm open time in order to make a reservation for that day only). I hear it was worth it.

Couple of words to the ladies: For the most part this is a couples resort. I state the obvious because that means we are coming with our partners. If you have a little muffin top, have that post-baby 20 pounds to lose, or haven't seen that size 12 in a long time, NO ONE CARES!!! Don't waste 1 second of this fabulous vacation worrying about what other people are thinking about you. The person who is holding your hand on the beach thinks your a goddess, and you are.

Couple of suggestions for the mgmt at the Valentin to consider.

1) Post the football game schedule on Sundays in the sport bar. We U.S.NFL rapid football fans were fish out of water and many conversations in the bar were around "Who's playing next".

2) People that go off the resort for early morning excursions really have no place to go for a good cup of coffee. How about a coffee kiosk in La Plaza from 6:00 -10:00 am where customers could go for a latte' or fresh brewed coffee.

3) Make the map given as you arrive at the hotel (in the black book) easier to understand. Everyone we spoke with did not understand (nor did we) that you only have (2) options for breakfast and lunch. You need to make the map easy--remember, we are all SO excited about arriving at your beautiful place, we are only half listening.

4) Remind staff not to promise golf carts to arrive when requested in only 5-10 minutes. Not a big deal, but the few times we used them, we always waited about 15 minutes.

Great vacation---we will be back!!! Thanks Valentin!!!

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms--gotta have buildings 10,11 and 12 on the second floor.

Before booking our trip to Mexico I had spent a lot of time researching resorts in the area and the Valentin was the most cost effective as well as one of the highest rated resorts in the area. Booking it seemed like a no brainer.

I have to say that after spending time at the resort that the reviews were right on. The staff from Willy the bell hop to Santos the Bartender (makes great Cafe De Mayo) and everyone in between were great and as friendly as could be. Not to mention the drink service on the beach was a nice touch.

The food was good though I had high expectations for the Mexican Restaurant, though it was fun to see my food get lit on fire. The best restaurant to go to is the Hibachi one. You've got to get in line early but its worth the wait, the food and the show were excellent.

The only complaint I have is that the pillows were not very comfortable, they give you a ton of them but they are just too squishy. Other than that everything was perfect.

It seems like a lot of groups and repeat visitors come to the resort. Next time we'll try and bring our friends.

Room Tip: We were in building 1. Seemed like a central location.
