Reviewed April 2, 2013

Enjoyed hiking around and seeing the remarkable aquaduct system that had been created and the beautiful scenery.

“Beautiful landscapes.”
Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

I was not expecting Cumbemayo to have such beautiful rolling hills, I felt like I was in a magazine. I also like that it was not overcrowded with tourists a lot of people don't know about this place unless you are locals like my family. If you are in the area I suggest you stop by also bring a windbreaker and warm clothes it gets cold being up there during the winter/early spring.

“Best kept secret--great hiking!”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

This is absolutely the most spectacular place I have ever gone that I had never heard of. While well known in Peru, this place is no where mentioned in most international tour information. The ride is about 20km from the town of Cajamarca, and guided walking tours are available from the town including transit to/from. It is difficult to put into words, so I am posting photos. A must see if you make it to this part of the world. There is no infrastructure (no bathrooms) and that is definitely part of the charm. Make sure you bring water and rain gear if your luck is not quite as great as ours was.

“A place to see, while in Cajamarca....”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

It is located 20 km, from Cajamarca town on 3500 m. plateau. It is an archaeological place surrounded by a picturesque landscape in form of a forest of stone pillars.
The Aqueduct, cut in country rock, is considered as one of the most remarkable works in hydraulic engineering of pre-Columbian America. It served to transfer the water, that otherwise would flow to Atlantic, to the dry Pacific coast.
