“NOTHING MID ABOUT MIDOCEAN! IT'S THE TOP!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2010

Do you like to walk in the footsteps of political, cultural and sports legends?
Do you like a clubhouse that ooozes with charm, class and sass?
Do you like a full-out caddy experience?
Do you like a golf course that gives you views you will remember for a lifetime?
Well, then you'll love midocean! My sister and I play there every August and the course takes my breath away each time we play there! The course is for every level, so don't be intimidated by the history or skill level, there are tee boxes to suit every type of player. The pace of play can be touch and go, but the views and course are so stunning, it's easy to overlook a full course.
And do stop afterwards and enjoy the clubhouse, where you can enjoy a cocktail and a five star lunch. Midocean does not overlook any detail, this is a must play course, I would have to say one of the best in the world!

“An incredible experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2008

I think this course ranks right up there with the finest in the world. I've visited and have been fortunate to play many of the courses where major championships have been held. I've never been to Augusta or Saint Andrews, so those two courses notwithstanding, this has to be the nicest course I've ever seen. The hospitality at the club was terrific. My hotel introduced me as a guest, and I was allowed to take a cart. The views are the nicest in golf. The water is such a beautiful blue, and really comes into play on almost every hole.

This course is challenging, but great in that you don't have to be a pro to have a great time. The course is well kept, and the greens are pretty fast, but you could certainly get a shot from a 6 iron to stop on the green. All in all, you'll probably shoot 10 shots worse than your normal handicap, but you'll remember the views for a lot longer than you'll remember your score. Highly recommended.

“Something special”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2006

The golf course has a special quality to it like St Andrews, Augusta National and Pebble Beach the views are simply stunning and the design of the golf course has been to make it a challenge for most standards of golfer. The greens are sloping and very fast and true. The golf course was in superb condition especially the greens. The only critism is that you are not allowed off the cart paths which means quite long walks and adds a little time to the round.Try to have lunch in the restaurant the views are amazing and the food is excellent if a little slow.
I had a lesson with Paul Adams the new assistant pro and was the best hour I have spent in a long time, highly recommended and my new swing is already working.
I am looking forward to returning as soon as possible.

“Great golfing at Mid Ocean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2004

I'd recommend any serious golfer to visit Mid-Ocean if they are looking for a challenge on an excellent and incredibly picturesque course.
The highlight of the round comes surprisingly early and out of the blue. As you climb the 4th fairway, and up onto the 5th tee, the ground and course drop beneath you to reveal a stunning dog leg left par 4 that requires you to hit over a large lake. The ultimate in risk-reward golf holes.
The course offers tremendous variety with the 1st, 3rd, 17th and 18th having very much a "linksy" feel to them as they border the sea and are effected by the winds. The other holes around the turn feel like a true parkland course with rolling valleys, terrific greenery and shelter from any coastal breezes.
The par 3s on the course are all magnificent, with the first two, on the outward nine protected by water, whereas the back 9 par 3s are long and demanding requiring long iron shots.
A fantastic course all in all.

“Play it if you can!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2004

One of the best golf courses I have ever played.

Holes may vary from the simply good to the world-class (#1, 3, 5, 9, 17, 18 stand out), but the total package is sublime. Winding from oceanside through inland valleys back to the ocean is fun. Prevailing wind is into your face on the first 5 holes, which can make for a challenging start to the round.

The greens complexes have been replaced over the last several years with new grass. The rest of the course is not irrigated and will dry out in the heat of the summer.

It is not impossible to get on if you do the right research on where to stay; many hotels can introduce you to play on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday mornings. You are generally required to take a caddie and walk the course, but this adds to the experience, overall.

It is expensive at north of $200, but not bad in comparison to other top courses around the world.
