“Most Enjoyable and Informative Visit”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

Interesting to see what animal sightings have been seen, and where. Good and interesting information about the locale and history. Just a good place to go for information on Algonquin Park. Should not miss it.

Must admit that the last time I went (we take our friends and visitors from out of town at least once a year) the restaurant was not exactly inviting. (This had to be around the spring of 2011 or August 2012, sorry, cannot remember) but if I remember rightly it was just coffee from a machine. Not a good and happy sight!!!. Even so, well worth the visit. Did not visit in 2013

“Worth a stop”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

Whenever we're in Algonquin, we always make a point of stopping in at the visitor centre. We like to check out the wildlife sightings board, the bookstore and the viewing platform out back. There is also a small exhibit on the park as well as a short film. In the fall (especially if it's cool and/or rainy), it's nice to get a hot lunch at the cafeteria. A new trail is currently being built at the centre and we look forward to walking it in the future. The only downside is that the centre can get quite busy with bus tours.

“Visitor Centre a 'Must' if You're Visiting the Park”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

The Visitor Centre opened in 1993 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Algonquin Provincial Park and the entire Ontario provincial park system. It boasts world class exhibits on the Park's natural and human history, a very decent restaurant and an excellent bookstore. A theatre presentation provides 'the Park story' and then takes you out to the viewing deck where you are able to take in a breathtaking panorama of the wild Algonquin landscape. For anyone taking a trip to or through Algonquin Provincial Park, the Visitor Centre really is a 'must'. The amazing stuffed wolves, bears, beavers and birds set against their natural habitats are so realistic that friends of mine took pictures, returned to the UK and told all their friends they'd been that close to these iconic Canadian critters! Also, don't can't miss the eerily real 'lumberjack' exhibit and hear about his experiences in lumber camps in the early days. There is a great bookstore operated by The Friends of Algonquin Park (and another at the Algonquin Logging Museum). These stores carry books and products covering all areas of natural and human history as well as a wide array of books and maps specifically pertaining to Algonquin's natural and human history. Be sure to set aside an hour or two for the Visitor Centre next time you're driving through Algonquin Park!
