This really was one of the highlights of our week in Canada. Toronto, Bartlett Lodge and Lake Eerie - Bartlett Lodge stood out for such a beautiful setting, such a relaxed atmosphere and some of the best food I have ever eaten. Really I/we cannot say how perfect it all was. From being picked up by boat, our cabin overlooking the lake, outstanding dinners for two nights (we werent there long), great breakfasts and little helpful ideas like the packed lunches, using all the canoes - everything.

Would definately go back.

We just came back from a 3 night stay at the Bartlett Lodge. Our cabin could really use some serious updating. There is a difference between rustic charm (which we were looking for), and just plain old 'rustic'-in-need-of-updating-and repair. In the case of Bartlett Lodge, it was unfortunately the latter. Our bathroom had a very dirty old bathtub that we all avoided, and we used the shower instead. The bathroom in general leaves much to be desired. The sitting room could also use some updating, and the colour schemes in the room were quite frankly an eyesore (burgundy walls, with a green couch and a light blue couch, - yuk). I'd say avoid the Del Ma Care Cabin. Perhaps the other cabins are better ??

The food is good. The lamb is outstanding. HOWEVER, be aware that the menu does NOT change from day to day. We were given THE SAME menu everyday, at both breakfast and dinner. By the third day, we were quite sick of seeing the same menu. So one thing needs improving is to give different menu choices to the guests each day. If you don't mind seeing the same menu day after day, then this may be okay for you. We were looking for some variety in our menu choices each day and were greatly disappointed.

Overall, an okay stay, but given the pricey rates that they charge - I would have expected something more . Definitely needs updating and improving.

We stayed at Bartlett Lodge for two days in June 2008.
The lodge consists of comfortable wooden cabins on a secluded part of the lake shore that can only be reached by boat.
From the initial pick up by the boatman to reception ,restaurant and cleaning staff we were very impressed by the pleasant and efficient nature of the staff- nothing was too much trouble.
The standard of the cabins was high although to promote the tranquility of the area no TV or radios are provided leaving guest to make their own amusement.
The views of the lake from all cabins are stunning especially at sunset.
The park is quite secluded so it is worth taking a half board option as driving to the next nearest restuarant or foodstore is quite a trek.
I have reviewed the excellent restaurant under the restaurant review pages of trip advisor.
Our only complant - as we live in the UK it will be a long trip to go back to Bartletts Lodge but it is one that we hope to make again.

Barlett Lodge is truely something else. I've never been anywhere like this before. It feels surreal as you are driving through the Algonquin Park Highway. Compared to London the roads are empty. The scenery through the park is breathtaking. When you arrive at the dock for Barlett Lodge you have to pick up the telephone and call for the Lodge boat to pick you up. A 'wooden speed boat' (ok, i'm not up on my boat terminaology) comes to pick you up. We were then taken to the reception, checked in and were shown to our cabin. Having never been to Canada or anywhere like this beofre the smell was what struck us most. Fresh natural pine. Beautiful. The cabins were brilliant. True log cabins. Clean and cozy. Patchwork quilts. We had a beautiful varander which we could sit out on and take in the view of the breathtaking lake that Barlett Lodge sits on.

Breakfast and Dinner at the lodge are well worth paying the extra for. I'm so glad we did this as driving through the park, there isn't a great deal on offer food wise. Dinner sittings were at 6 or 8. As the Lodge doesn't have a liquor license be advised to take your own bottle of wine. Try and purchase this before you enter the park as there are only two liquor stores in the whole park. Both about 30-45 minute drive from Barlett Lodge. Dinner was gorgeous. Amuse Bouche, Starter 1, starter 2, Main and dessert. Please please please if you stay here, you MUST try the Carrot Cake. It is AMAZING!!!! Breakfast was served from 7.30 until about 10 i think. Breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit and pastries followed by your choice of hot food. The pancakes......YUM!!!! Everything we tried was lovely. You can also purchase lunch to out with you for the day. Again, absolutely worth the money.

Canoes and Kayaks are readily available for use by all guests. Just pick up a life jackets and oar from the shed and you're away. We spent hours in the kayak just sailing around the lake. Bliss. So relaxing. There are kayak path maps in your cabin so you don't get lost.

There are plenty of trails to do in the Park too. We did the Beaver trail which took around an hour and a half. If you can, take some binoculars with you as you can then have a look in the tress for Moose and Beavers. The beaver trail would be brilliant for children. Looking at the Beaver Dams and lodges is really interesting. We also did Spruce Bog trail, which is a really easy trail lasting around an hour or so. All the trail guides are in the reception area for you to borrow. Alternatively there are always copies at the entrance to each trail.

Barlett Lodge is truly an amazing place. The pace of life is completely different from what we are used to. This totally unspoilt place has the most breathtaking views. So many stars in the sky too!! We went in October so were able to see the Autumn Colours. You can look at pictures of something but it's never quite the same. The first morning, still suffering from Jetlag, we woke at 4am. We decided to sit on the verander and get some of the morning fresh air. The mist on the lake was stunning. We ended up on the bank in our pyjamas with the camera. It was just beautiful. So silent and still with the occassional splash of a fish. One day it rained, so we sat in the reception area and read a book in front of the crackling wood burner. It was so relaxing and something we would never do at home with our hetic lives.

Sorry this review is a tad long, i don't think there would be enough words to decribe what an amazing place Barlett Lodge is. All the staff are so friendly and will do anything to help you. This will be a place i will never ever forget and i hope that some day i could possibly return for a visit.

We stayed at Bartlett Lodge in September of this year and had the most fantastic time.

From arriving at the car park across the lake you had the feeling that the experience of staying at this place was going to be different from your normal run of the mill holiday. The staff were great, helpful and polite and made you feel very welcome.

Our lodge was fantastic, looking out over the lake through the trees from the front room.

The experiance was added to by the fantastic weather whilst we were there and being able to simply get up in the morning an jump into a canoe on the picture perfect lake is an experience not to be missed. The location was perfect, right in the middle of the park, but easy to get back to your car across the lake if you wanted to explore elsewhere. Highly recommended.

We wanted 'some and we found what we wanted, wonderful countryside, beautiful views and not too many people. Barlett Lodge is small compared with other lodges (only 12 cabins) but ideally situated in Algonquin Park for both canoeing and hiking.

Our cabin was simple, but very comfortable and with a unencombered view of the lake, both from the screen protected porch and from our bedroom.

We were still suffering from jetlag, and sitting on the deck at six in the morning, watching the sun come up over the lake with a couple of chipmunks chasing each other within a few of meters from your feet must be about as close to paradise as you can get!

The food is excellent, and beautifully served, Staff couldn't have been kinder, even teaching us to paddle a canoe, something neither of us (a middle-aged couple) had ever done. Hiking in Algonquin was excellent with well laid out trails , and descriptions at the beginning of every trail.

Greatest plus of all, not telephone signal, no internet, so real holidays for three days!

Amazing location on Cache Lake in Algonqin. I stayed for 2 nights, 3 days . The cabins are rustic but VERY clean. The staff could not have been friendlier and the boats, canoes, kayaks, etc were all ready for use. It was VERY cold when we were there and the cabin had electric heat which took the chill off. I took a quick dip in the lake but it was too cold to swim much.

On the food: I was truly surprised to see the caliber of cuisine at this little place in the middle of no where. I travel extensively and eat out a lot. The meals were superb. No alcohol but you can bring your own or drive to the liquor stores right outside the park if you forgot yours. frankly it would have been hard to match wine to the changing menu and the food was so delicious on its own. We all ordered different things and tasted. It was worth the price.

Quiet, secluded and beautiful.
