Excellent value b&b in a croft about 1 mile outside Plockton with amazing views across to the Cuillins of Skye. We were greeted with a fresh pot of tea with home made cake on arrival by the owners who have lived in the area all their lives. No ensuite but the bathroom is for guests only. Very good breakfast too. Best value for money stay we have ever had.

A traditional homely family croft, extremely peaceful location.
Family room, extremely spacious, tastefully decorated and would sleep 5 adults comfotably with additional space for very young children. Views across to skye and islands are excellent. Traditional cooked tasty Scottish breakfast. Very warm welcome and an invite to 'pop in' for cup of tea if your back in the area. MANY THANKS from the Hunter Family

Wonderful stay with Joan and Ian that are so friendly. They helped us when we were down with the car by night in Skye Island. Ian picked us at eleven and brought us back at "home". Very nice rooms and the best breakfast of the world.

We arrived late and weary to a busy and full Plockton village. Had spied the sign to Driseach on the way, backtracked and wound our way along the drive to the house. We were welcomed, fed (overfed?)and entertained by an ebullient and helpful Joan, discussed beef prices and taxi driving with Iain and celebrated school athletics day success with grandsons as they poppedin to tell Grandma. Watched the sun set, finally, around 10pm over the Sound of Sleat and the Cullins. Fabulous views, enormous breakfast around the table with 2 other couples and a very comfortable and quiet sleep. Our most memorable stay in an 8 week trip from NZ. Thank you Joan.

We arrived rather late on a weekend trip for my sisters wedding. On our arrival we were met by Joan and the most homely welcome followed by tea and cake. The family room was perfect for my wife and I and our two children. It was huge and met our needs perfectly with outstanding views over the Isle of Skye. The following morning we ventured down for breakfast....it was just the business. Cereal, fruit, toast with home made bramble jam and a wonderful cooked breakfast.
Due to a wedding we were booked into another B&B the second night. Joan offered that we could return in the afternoon to get changed for the wedding if we could not get in early. It really was like staying at home with the warmest welcome ever and really warm to the kids. We will definitely return to spend a bit longer in that area. Thank you Joan it was just lovely.

Driseach, run by Joan and Ian MacLennan, is a friendly B&B complete with Highland cows, within walking distance of Plockton, a picturesque fishing village close to the Isle of Skye. Whilst facilities may be reasonably basic – the rooms are not en-suite, for example, which may put some people off – this is more than compensated for by its location and by the welcome that Joan offers.

The B&B is about 15-20 min walk from Plockton itself if you cut across the airstrip. Its surroundings are stunning and the view from our room was exceptional. Because it is away from the main village, it is also very peaceful.

Joan is a real character. She invited us to have tea and homemade cake with her in her lounge a few times and chatted about what it was like to run the farm and about her guests, many of whom it seems have become regulars. Breakfast was a hearty affair, rounded off by homemade stewed fruit and toast with Joan’s legendary bramble jam.

Sometimes, staying at a B&B can seem too much like encroaching into someone’s home. At Driseach, it really does feel like you are staying with family, but in the best possible way. I’m not sure Joan every fully understood that my (male) partner and I were a couple, despite me trying to tell her when we arrived, but there are some things I can forgive!

Plockton itself has some decent places to eat. The food at Plockton Shores was excellent, if a little pricey. The village has a friendly local pub (the Plockton Inn) with traditional music and a good selection of whiskeys.
