I wish this was my house - our room (number 4) was stunning - tastefully decorated, clean and large, with an ensuite with red rolltop bath. Bed very comfortable and a separate sitting area topped off our stay. The downstairs lounge is great - again tastefully furnished and makes your stay even more comfy, with the fire on in the evenings it was a real home from home. Breakfasts good and uncomplicated. Maggie and Dennis are lovely - genuine - hosts - kind and helpful but not overbearing. We will be back!

IT WAS A FANTASTIC STAY. lOVELY HOST AND HOSTESS AND GORGEOUS LOCATION. The dinner to die for.....maybe a bit more expensive rooms than accustomed to on the EAST COAST but very well looked after.

Cruachan was perfect for us, and perfectly situated although a good 'view' would have been the icing on the cake (although I'm not complaining about the heather-covered hillside!). We were very impressed by the mix of contemporary and traditional decoration and furniture. The bedrooms were excellent and well appointed, the bathrooms in particular. Food was delicious, and the welcome received from mine host was warm, friendly and ever helpful without being pushy. On a 14 night tour of the north of Scotland, we concluded that Cruachan Guest House had been our best overnight stop and would love to return again in the future. I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending it to other travellers, though you do need to book in advance (its a long way from anywhere and therefore good to know your accommodation is secured for you).

Have been staying here many years now, and it never fails to delight. Rooms are excellent (though they do differ), breakfasts are excellent, evening meals wonderful and the place really has charm.

We were taking a month to tour Scotland and stayed in a number of hotels, guest houses and B&B's. By luck we decided to stay here for three days. It was outstandingly the best place we found in Scotland. There is no where else locally to eat, but do not worry, you will go to bed fat, full and very happy.
Dennis and Maggie are the complete team. Dennis does the front of house stuff with a delightful gentle sense of humour, while Maggie creates food that you would be pleased to eat in a top notch restaurant.
The rooms are good and the welcoming guest lounge was a good place to spend a few hours. I can not fault the place...but have great memories of our stay there.

Hubby and I stayed for 2 nights at the end of September. Our room was beautiful, a very comfy large double bed and the bathroom had a gorgeous roll-top bath! We were given a friendly welcome with a cup of tea and biccies. The food here is fabulous - we certainly never expected to have a choice of meals!
Recommend eating here as Maggie is a fabulous cook and there isn't anywhere particularly close by. Cruachan really is in the middle of nowhere and that is one of the things we loved about it, being able to walk to the top of the back garden and see for miles.
Highly recommended.
