I drove from Golspie to Achmelvich Bay on a day that was supposed to get to 23 degrees. Beatiful drive on mostly single track road. Parking at the beach is very limited, and because of the weather, it was busy, but I found a spot on the grass. Then to see the white sand and crystal turquoise water was amazing! The temperature rose and I was able to swim, along with many others, who were also braving the cold water. Once you got used to it, it was so refreshing! The sand was perfect - no rocks, or anything else to worry about stepping on. There were people enjoying boating, water skiing, swimming etc., all the things you expect in the Mediterranean, not the North Atlantic Sea! There were sheep on the hill on one side and nice paths up the hill on the other side for hiking or laying in the sun, as many were. The only downfall of the day was that it was a Tuesday. I had planned on getting Fish and Chips for lunch as I had read there was a shop there. There is, but unfortunately, is is not open on Tuesdays. Other than that, it was a perfect day! Highly recommend it!
