Achmelvich beach is reached off a 4 mile scenic single track road and has a largish parking adjacent to the caravan park.

The beaches are glorious - fine sparkling white sand and crystal clear turquoise waters. The first beach is the most accessible through a flattish path across a wild flower meadow. However as a result it can be busy

The second beach is accessed by a path over headland incl climbing 2 styles, and a bit of a rock clamber. When we visited it was totally deserted and breathtaking - well worth the effort.

Scotland at its best.

Highly recommended

This is a slice of Scotland at its finest. A beautiful beach with white sands and clear blue water. Walk over the cliff to the right and down onto Vesties beach which we got all to ourselves one Wednesday afternoon. There was just one lady out in the water swimming for nearly two hours back and forth keeping herself nice and fit. She was in heaven as were we as we lay back on the sand and relaxed in this peaceful and tranquil setting. Both beaches are perfect for young toddlers to play safely. You can kayak, snorkel (bring your own equipment), fish and explore the rock pools near by. There is a fish and chip shop located at Shore Caravan Park beside the beach and the owner serves up superb fish and chips! (Check out chip shop opening days and times before you go-and please if you can, support the local economy).

The sunsets are spectacular if you're staying locally or camping and have time to stay.

Please note that the beach is located along a narrow single track road so ensure you know how to use passing places correctly and safely. If not read up online the simple tips to using these roads safely (especially now with the increased traffic due to NC500).

If you're taking your dog they are allowed on the beach but not in the caravan park due to croft land with sheep and lambs.

Arrived on our motorbikes having ridden from John O Groats. Beautiful campsite with magnificent views. We arrived on Monday and chip shop was closed. Limited shopping in Lochinver so if you are going make sure you take your supplies etc. with you.
Will return for a longer stay next year.

Isolated and perfect. White sand and a turquoise sea. As the sun shone down only two other families in sight. Take the Crofter's road to get to this bay an experience some beautiful views along the way.
