“Lovely location, fabulous food, superb staff, restful rooms.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2012

Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel in such a beautiful location which even provided sunshine every day of our visit! The staff are very friendly and helpful from the reception, to the housekeeping staff, to the dining room staff.
The bedroom was spacious and well equipped with a lovely view down to the harbour and a very comfortable bed which would have been hard to leave in the morning if it wasn't for the thought of the delicious breakfasts which awaited downstairs.
The food was definitely a highpoint. As well as the amazing breakfasts we had three evening meals during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed each one. A special mention for the 'fish of the day' when it was sole with an almond butter and 'crushed' potatoes which is now in my top three meals of all time!
A short walk through the grounds takes you down to the harbour where we saw otters and met the group of deer on our way back up the driveway.
We even found time for a game of biliards and the 'instruction' books in the billiard room were very helpful - following Steve Davies' advice I actually managed to pot a few balls!
The hotel is not the prettiest from the outside but the decor and layout inside with the lovely views and the great staff more than compensate. I particularly liked the view of Suilven and Canisp from the enormous windows as you go up the stairs.

Room Tip: All the rooms have wonderful views.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Inver Lodge and I am delighted to read how much you enjoyed your visit not only to the hotel but to our beautiful area. The hotel was designed to provide all the bedrooms with a sea view, our two executive rooms also have a mountain view, I agree the view from the catherdral staircase windows is super. Chef Lee Pattie was delighted to read how much you had enjoyed the restaurant and hopes that if you return you will come and visit the kitchen. Kind regards, Nicholas Gorton

I stayed for 6 nights using the April special 3 for 2 tariff. Definitely worth it. This is an excellent hotel with superbly attentive staff and a very good hotel manager who I referred to as Gordon all week long and he was too polite to inform me that his first name is Nicholas! The rooms are a good size and well equipped. Reception and the dining room are spacious and well kept and of course, the latter has that stupendous view over the bay that is worth the entry cost all by itself. Strangely enough the only disappointment was the food which was too salty on two of the nights I ate there (but was good on the other nights). I would definitely stay here again if my travels cause me to use Lochinver as a touring base for the Assynt area.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review of you stay at Inver Lodge. I am delighted to read how much that you enjoyed your stay, I have passed on your comment to Chef Lee regarding your taste in salt levels and have made a note for your hopeful return.
On a personal note I often get called Gordon or Richard so please do not feel bad about it, I think that I must just have doubles with these names. I look forward hopefully to welcoming you back to the hotel when you are next in Scotland. Kind regards, Nicholas Gorton

What a delightful experience we had at this hotel. Beautiful room with views over the harbour. Staff were welcoming and attentive, without being intrusive - 'real' people with genuine warmth, particularly Linda, the restaurant manager - an absolute gem. The food in Chez Roux was excellent - the bonus being the harbour views yet again. Not to be missed if you are in this area.

This hotel is exceptional in every way - we were very sorry we could not stay longer than the one night we had booked. When you pull into the car park a member of staff walks out to greet you which doesn't happen very often these days. All the staff are so courteous, helpful and hospitable, and the Manager, Nick Gorton is a charming gentleman with a wide knowledge of the area and beyond. Our large room overlooked the busy harbour, was beautifully appointed and we were thrilled to look out at dusk and see wild deer having their supper of grass just a few feet below. And last but by no means least, Chez Roux deserves every accolade available - both dinner and breakfast were a culinary delight - scrumptious! We particularly enjoyed our first Omelette Arnold Bennet. If you are visiting the dramatic Highlands of Scotland do try and spend a night at Inver Lodge.

Thank you very much in taking the time to write a review of you stay at Inver Lodge. I am delighed to read how much you enjoyed yourselves from the "on call" wildlife display to Omlette Arnold Bennett for breakfast. We are very fortunate to be blessed with a group of 5 red deer who return each Spring, they have been joined by a fox and pheasant this year. I hope that we can welcome you back to the hotel before too long. Kind regards, Nicholas Gorton

We have just returned from a wonderful stay in this delightful part of North WEst Scotland. The hotel is just fantastic and the staff make it more so. They just can't do enough for you. The hotel is comfortable with incredible views of the amazing scenery and harbour of Lochinver. They run a very fair system no matter the room you have as they try to give everyone a seat at the front of the dining room for the views. Loved the whole experience and will return this year. I give it 5 plus stars

Stayed for 1 night in May, and booked in for a touch of luxury following a day of hill walking and mountain biking to Sandwood Bay. It's a relatively small, country house style of hotel, with really exceptional levels of hospitality and welcome, and great accommodation and service. We particularly liked the luxury, modern, clean lines bathroom, great after a long day on the hills and on the bikes. The rooms are a little old fashioned, but spacious and comfortable, with excellent views of the harbour and out to Lewis in the distance. Excellent quality food and service, and a great hotel if you enjoy a touch of luxury to go along with some local sporting or outdoor activities.
