“Fabulous!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

We stayed here as a party of 5 adults, 2 children and a dog over Easter. This property is exceptional, it is really well furnished, spacious, spotlessly clean and the owners have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Lovely kitchen area with plenty of crockery etc (even a spare set for when the other is in the dishwasher.) There are lounge areas both upstairs and down, which works well if you are part of a larger party. The bedrooms were all really comfortable with good quality bedding. I was a little nervous beforehand as one of the reviews mentioned traffic noise caused some sleep disturbance at night. I can honestly say there is no traffic noise at all. The property is set back from a road but the bedrooms are all at the rear of the property so you don't hear anything. The traffic is very light during the night anyway, so I imagine that even if you were at the front of the property you would not hear anything. There is a small but well stocked shop just a few minutes walk away and a pub accross the road, we did'nt think the food was great there - just ok - but the staff were very pleasant and friendly. You are right next to the forest, so there are several walks you can do which are right on the doorstep, all are well signed. There is also the Strathyre Circuit that you can do, which is good for kids and lasts about an hour and a half at most. there are loads of things you can do in the area, I can reccomend Rob Roys Burial Ground (nice walks), the Falls of Dochart, and Aberfoyle. We also enjoyed a trip on the steamer on Loch Katrine which will appeal to children, but make sure you wear something warm!! Doune Castle is well worth a visit, there are some really lovely walks right by the river. The Red Lion pub in Doune serves really nice food and is very reasonably priced and the owners are very welcoming. Blair Drummond Safari Park was excellent. If you dont fancy cooking breakfast in the morning, the Woollen Mill at Kilmahog has a two for one offer for breakfast which is really good value and worked out at about £3.00 each, we did this on the day we went home to save us cooking. We had a great week here, there were still lots of things we did'nt have time to fit in. Also, it is much nicer than our own house! I would'nt hesitate to recommend this as a great place to stay.

Many thanks for your comprehensive review. It's always good to hear feedback, and to know we are doing something right. Try the Creagan Inn or Mhor 84 next time you're up this way for superior local food.

Many thanks for your kind comments ! You rightly point out some of the advantages of Glenvarloch being within the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park and of course the ease of access to a primary road provides great scope to reach the highlands & islands normally out of normal range - or even go skiing at Glencoe! It's a quiet spot set back from the road with the gurgling burn for company. We'd be glad to have you back !

So glad that you appreciated some of the advantages of Glenvarloch ! The prevalence of Android and Tablet gadgets and the upgrade to the local mobile network means, thankfully, wi-fi is not necessary.
It is always worth checking the map before booking. Glenvarloch is in the glorious Scottish Highlands where the roads are not straight and Top Gear fans may recognise some of the routes - fab ! If you prefer City living . . . . then Glenvarloch is not for you ! Best Wishes G&J

“Great location to explore the Trossacks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

This house is extremely well appointed. A home from home with excellent facilities. Bubbly bath and showers are very good. Kitchen spacious and functional. Communal areas very well lit, comfortable and spacious. Very spacious for the uninitiated. We cycled along the shores of loch Lubnaig to Ben Ledi and climbed up to the peak in sunshine. We cycled north to Killin along the viaduct. We swam in loch viol and fly fished for brown trout in the river balvaig and the lochs lubnaig and doine, rode horses at Castle Renock. Our guest travelled toEdinburgh and Glasgow for excursions and fished for salmon and seatrout at Calander. What a brilliant place to enjoy the the Trossacks. Would return for more fishing walking and cycling and recommend this house with no reservations....
