Never judge a book by its cover and... I might never judge a place again by its location. We came to Shou Japanese Kitchen not expecting much and everything blew our minds . The humble hole-in-the-wall restaurant is owned and run by Japanese folks so we were excited to order all 3 types of ramen. Our shoyu ramen was probably the best shoyu-based broth I've ever had! It was clear, packed full of flavour, just enough soy sauce to not overpower other delicate ingredients and every mouthful was a joy to slurp. The hot and spicy ramen tasted like there was a dash of vinegar in the soup that intrigued our tastebuds, along with a good kick of chilli and a handful of pickled greens. We were also pleasantly surprised at how much we would enjoy the curry ramen. It wasn't at all salty, carried just the right amount of chilli and the thickness of the soup was so satisfying on a cold night. With perfectly cooked noodles and gorgeous soft-boiled eggs to top things off, we were not surprised to see the place super packed and the phone was ringing non-stop with take-away orders. Authenticity and simplicity at its best!
