“Great Weekend with Friends”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

Another great stay, John and Christine are wonderful and welcoming hosts and always go the extra mile, tea and cake on arrival! A cracking breakfast to kick off a days walking and a pack lunch full of treats. If you're looking for a few days near Ullswater would strongly recommend, back again at Easter, can't wait.

Room Tip: All lovely, extremely comfy beds, just what's needed after a days walking.

We loved staying at this place while we were on the Coast to Coast. Homemade biscuits to welcome us, homemade bread at breakfast and for our packed lunches - along with homemade flapjacks. Christine and John are the kind of hosts who go the extra mile: a weather report for each day was printed and left out in time for breakfast; they knew everything there is to know about walking the fells and where to eat in the area. And there were other little touches - a teddy on the bed, fresh milk available, huge fluffy towels - which showed they knew exactly what walkers are looking for.
The plumbing was a little iffy but there was plenty of hot water in the shower, the beds were exceptionally comfortable, and breakfast one of the biggest and best-cooked we've tasted anywhere. So would have no hesitation in recommending this as a top place to stay if you're visiting or walking near Ullswater.

Booked in by travel company on Coast to Coast walk. Friendly welcome, clean and comfortable accommodation. Arriving with wet boots, they were promptly removed and returned the following morning dry and clean! Socks washed and dried too. The breakfast was generous and served in pleasant surroundings.

Warm welcome with tea and cake for weary walkers, attractive guest lounge, helpful recommendations for supper in Glenridding, comfortable room, very clean and modern facilities, excellent breakfast, knowledgeable hosts on fells and routes, one of our best overnight stays.

Christine and Jon have mastered hospitality for B&Bs. From the time we were greeted enthusiastically at the door till we reluctantly trudged off two days later, our stay was ideal. After walking the Coast to Coast path for five days, we needed a recovery day and this was the place for it. The massive bathroom with the longest tub I've ever seen and also a huge shower made it easy to soak the aches of the trail away. After being served lovely tea and cake, Christine laundered our muddy clothes, dried them in the sun and returned them smelling of summer fields. The strong wifi connection was greatly appreciated as we lounged in the living room for a morning and reconnected briefly with the world. Having hosts who were knowledgable and encouraging about our C2C journey was an added bonus. Best accommodations of our three week walk!

Room Tip: While our room didn't have an entire bathroom en suite, it had a toilet and sink in the room and...

Spent a truly wonderful weekend here. Location is perfect.. just out of the busier Glenridding.. and good access to great walks. Christine and Jon were truly amazing hosts. Making us feel like we were the first people to ever stay there. The breakfasts, perfect for walkers appetites, packed lunches too! And the advice from Christine on what to do and where to walk was perfect. We even took part in the fell run she organised. Best B&B I've ever stayed in. The beds, incidentally were very very comfortable..

Just what we needed after a long walk on the coast to coast, warm cake and tea on arrival and comfortable room, was very happy to find a hair dryer in the room too, the first on the trip! A warm reception with great local knowledge really helped us on our way and the breakfast was huge and delicious! Would recommend this bed and breakfast to any one either on the coast to coast or walking in the local area!
