we stayed here for 1 night because we were attending a wedding. we wouldnt normally pay so much but thought we would splash out a bit. My wife and I paid for a room over looking the lake with a balcony. We have to say it was worth every penny, from the start the staff were very helpful and friendly and could not do enough for us. the wedding was very well organized and the food was excellent. the room and hotel was very clean and ready before check in time. we had a excellent time and with out a doubt will be going again. thanks to everyone involved for making the bride and groom a day to remember. and a wounderfull stay for us

Room Tip: worth trying a room with a lake view

I don’t usually write reviews but especially wanted to write this one as a huge thank you to all of the staff at The Inn on the Lake.

We first stayed at the Inn on the Lake a couple of years ago, before the refurb. After a nights stay, a fantastic meal and very friendly service we didn’t even bother to view anymore venues and booked our wedding there and then.

Each time we have returned, even when just popping in to see the beautiful new decor and orangery, we have been given such a warm welcome by every member of staff especially by Garry the hotel manager.

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect, a special thank you to Jonathan for ensuring that everything ran so smoothly. A feeling of complete confidence in Jonathan and his team helped us to keep calm on the morning of the wedding and we didn’t have to worry about anything all day. The service was absolutely faultless and the staff couldn’t do enough to help us, even driving my grandad to and from the steamer pier.

We were lucky enough to be able to have the ceremony in the gazebo, the views are spectacular and our ceremony felt incredibly private even though we were outside. Thank you too to the other guests who were staying at the hotel on the 16th August, especially to the lady who calmed my nerves with a big smile just before I walked down the aisle.

The food on the day was fantastic, many of our guests are still raving about it, especially the evening hog roast and the hotel is beautiful. Our rooms were spotless, beds so comfortable and public areas bright and friendly.

Having had many visits to the Lake District I have not found another hotel that comes close to the Inn on the Lake. I can’t think of a better place to hold our special day and will definitely be back for a visit.

Thank you all again
Bekki and Dave Heaven

Stayed for 3 nights for the price of 2, including evening meal. Had a fabulous time. Food was excellent, rooms were beautiful and the setting was magnificent. We cannot thank the staff enough for all their attention to detail and the obvious pleasure they all took in their work. The staff truly made this a relaxing break.
One of our party had a dental emergency and with the help of the staff, he had his tooth out in carlisle the same night and was back in the hotel, where they made sure he had something to eat even though too late for evening meal. TOP MARKS!

Room Tip: rooms at the rear of the hotel face the lake and have wonderful views from the balcony.

Recently visited the Inn on the lake for a family wedding. Staff were fantastic and everything went without a hitch. The scenery in the area is unbelievably pretty and the hotel is stunning inside and out. All in all a brilliant day and would highly recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at this wonderful hotel for three nights in August and were absolutely delighted with all aspects of our stay. The hotel is set in the most spectacular location surrounded by beautiful scenery. The staff are exceptional in every way possible, they made sure we had a perfect stay. They are all friendly, courteous and professional, special mention to Michelle on reception and Ike and all the dining room staff. We had breakfast and evening meals and were astounded at the standard of the beautifully presented, fresh food - the raspberry and rhubarb crumble with custard was to die for! We stayed in a lake view room which was truly stunning with breath taking views, the décor was beautiful, the room was large and comfortable. The bed in Room 18 is far too big!! What a wonderful hotel, cannot see how anyone could find a fault. We look forward to returning soon.

Went here for a wedding. Venue was fine and it is in a beautiful setting. Wedding went well, but at £90 per person per night it is overpriced. When we read the paperwork upon checking in, it was unclear about the rate so I asked "Is the rate £90 per person per night, or £90 for the double room per night based on 2 person occupancy?" I was specifically told the latter. When we checked out they insisted on charging us £90 per person per night. I was not chuffed. The hotel is very nice, albeit slightly dated. Food was average. Despite the confusion, I would expect a better hotel for the price.

Dear Guest

Thank you for leaving a review on this site and just to clarify your comments. You booked over the phone months before the wedding and never was it said that the price was per room as we never use this phrase as all our tariffs are per person based on two people occupying the room. You agreed the rate, paid a deposit to which is then explained about the outstanding balance, then you received a confirmation letter which quite clearly sets out the tariff and outstanding balance. When you arrived the tariff was on your key card and still no problem until you come to check out and pay. We have had no confusion with anyone else so I'm sure the confusion is on your part even though you have it in writing. As for the hotel being dated, this is very surprising as we have just invested a tremendous amount of money on the hotel and again as far as the food is concerned I will let people draw there own conclusions from other more balanced reviews.
