Had a very enjoyable stay in July.
It is an excellent location for touring he lakes.
Hotel staff were very helpful and made sure gluten free breakfast was available each morning.
Looking forward to returning soon.

We stayed for five nights as we got a good deal online - unfortunately it did not include breakfast which we had not realised. To avail of this would have been an additional £15 each a total of £150 pounds extra for the holiday - much too expensive and the location did not allow much opportunity to go elsewhere. We decided to wait until the cafe opened at 11.00 where we got a lovely breakfast but this was much too late in the day. We tended to eat in the bar at night but this could be noisy and crowded - this did not take from the food which was lovely.
All in all lovely room, location, staff and facilities - a really pleasant holiday in a place that is not too touristy. We would definitely go again but only if we got a deal that included breakfast. It is an expensive hotel but probably worth it.

Room Tip: Go for rooms overlooking the lake.

I've been staying at this hotel for over 25 years and like it a lot. My latest stay was a last-minute decision after a bad night's stay at another place. I went for the dinner, bed and breakfast option, but actually I should have just gone for B&B (see below for why). The room was great - plenty of space, clean, good view of mountains. A highlight of this hotel is the swimming pool. It's not huge, but well-appointed, clean and not crowded. There is a sauna too, which is nice after a swim.

I had dinner in the restaurant, which was a mistake. Not because of the food, which was great, but the atmosphere - there was only one other solitary diner. The atmosphere wasn't helped by the music - a weird collection of easy-listening staples. The waitress told me that most people tend to eat in the Ratcher's bar; that is what I have tended to do in the past, and I should have done it this time too - and saved myself some money into the bargain.

Breakfast was very good, apart from the repeat performance of the same cruddy CD.

All told, this is one of my favourite places to stay in the Lakes, and with a couple of minor tweaks would be my favourite hotel anywhere. Go for B&B and eat in the bar is my advice.

We booked here to break up the drive to Scotland and we were very happy with the location in the Lake District. We had a family room which was a good size. Took a swim before our evening meal - which was also good. Would recommend. We didn't spend a lot of time in the area but would like to go back.

We stayed one night in this hotel, room was lovely, seemed newly refurbished - but it was oh so hot. Outside was around 23C, but on the second floor, the heat met you as you got out of the lift. The lovely bedroom was equally as hot, impossible to open windows. The very helpful receptionist arrived with a tower fan, which was practically useless - a normal circular fan would have been better. He managed to open the windows about 4 inches after a great deal of effort. We spent a sleepless night in a room which was so hot, we might as well have been in the Tropics - at 3.00am we were so hot we felt we were suffocating.
However, the staff were very nice, breakfast was included and was very good.
The price charged for this hotel was very expensive, and was not good value. We would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Do not choose a room on the second floor - you will suffocate!

Stayed a couple of nights in July as a short break. Superior room overlooking lake. Big room. Big bathroom. Very clean. Furniture matched the style if the hotel. Breakfast lovely as was dinner. Service a little slow on Saturday night but not adversely so. Had a pizza for lunch in the pub one day too. Will def go back

We stayed here for two nights in May for my friend's wedding. Our room was extremely small, though not uncomfortable. Rooms were furnished well and the bed extremely comfortable.

The breakfast was not included. We paid an extortionate amount for a very average breakfast there. The next day we had breakfast at the Inn on there Lake nextdoor, the more expensive hotel, and it turned out to be cheaper and much better!

Overall a decent stay, though value for money is questionable.
