“What an amazing destination”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

Stayed at the Parador de Baiona on our drive back from Portugal to the UK. This has to be one of the most spectacular hotels in the Parador group. Amazing location, sited within the walls of the old castle and jutting out into the sea on a peninsular the hotel is within easy reach of the town of Baiona. Most of the rooms have a sea view and are large and well equipped. The restaurant serves first class cuisine and the breakfast offers the widest choice I have experienced on my travels round Europe. The views from the terrace bar are again superb and if you have time take a boat trip over to the Cies Islands for an experience you will not forget. Check out the video on the Parador de Baiona website for better insight. First class venue if you want to impress.

I've read that this is the most beautiful Parador of the system, and I would believe it. A converted castle? it's a stunning location with beautiful rooms and an elegant and regal style. The pool is large and fenced in for safety. The terrace bar looks out at the islands in the bay. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotless. Well worth the price. Note that breakfast is included in the price, which we didn't know, so we missed out.

Room Tip: Get a room with the view so you can open the window and hear the surf.

My wife and I stayed three nights at Parador of Baiona and I would recommend visitors to pay the extra for a Superior Room with View. The hotel is a modern building built in the old style within the walls of a very old fort and the views are fantastic. The walks around the ramparts and on the lower public footpath round the peninsula are really enjoyable.Rooms are large, spotless and very well maintained and lack for nothing.Food in the restaurant was very good with emphasis on local produce and regional cooking. This is a theme repeated at all Paradors and one which we wholeheartedly support. The town itself is very pleasant with plenty of places to eat(although we didn't try any of them).Although it was mid June the place was practically deserted.
We would definitely recommend Baiona and its Parador.

What a great place for a fairytale wedding! Nice room, great location, wonderful view, even the weather was great. The staff was friendly and helpful, and although their English was limited, we worked every detail out... even the lost luggage. Thebreakfast buffet was very nice, the lunch on the terrace relaxing, dinner in the dining room very pleasant. I can honestly say I had nothing to complain about. By the way, you can ask for a king-sized bed... there is at least one!

Room Tip: Ask for a king-sized bed... 'Matrimonial suite'...

My Self and my new wife booked in to this parador through an agent having never stayed in a parador and were blown away by the stunning views all around the hotel , even the access road is amazing, we were shown to our room which had sea views ,but was not very big and looked a bit dated so we asked for a better and larger room which was shown to us immediately . This new room was superb, 2 windows with contrasting views 1 out to the bay and harbour area and the other to the wide Atlantic and the islands . The porter then brought our cases within minutes . We were booked in for two nights but on day 2, my wife asked could we stay 2 more nights .we were told no that as the trip was booked through an agent we would not be able to change . We pointed out that the next hotel was also a parador up the coast , but they said sorry ,cant change . We accepted this and went off for dinner . On our return we were presented with a bottle of champagne and the most delicious home made chocolates as a gift for our honeymoon . We were only in the room 30 seconds when we got a call from the manager to say that he had sorted out the arrangements for us to stay on in baiona . My wife was thrilled as was I . Over all the staff and food were excellent we were so happy there and would love to go back

Room Tip: Our room with 2 windows was room210

Were on a parador car tour round north Spain. This place has a great location with a wonderful view of the bay, but unfortunately not from our room which faced a small courtyard. I enquired about a bay-view room but was just told it wasn't part of our package - even though I would have paid more and rooms were clearly not all full (Sunday night in April!). The service was pretty indifferent really, which is not usual in a parador in our experience. The restaurant was fine for both dinner and breakfast. We went into Baiona which was interesting, worth the stroll. Overall though we were left feeling disappointed, a first for us in many parador stays

We just had our wedding at the Parador and we couldn't have asked for more. From the amazing views of the Parador, to the excellent food, the friendly staff, discount prices for our guests and a truly unforgettable honeymoon suite that was bigger than our apartment back home!
We got married at the Parador's chapel, which was really cute, with amazing views, and beautiful setting. It was just 20 meters away from the reception dinner. So easy and convenient for all of our guests.
Ana Turrado, the events planner for the Parador, was very helpful and a great professional who accommodated all of our needs, which were many, and sometimes unexpected. She dealt with all of our requests and last minute cancellations with calmness and made us feel like we were in really good hands. Her suggestions for the wedding were all excellent.
The staff at the Parador were very friendly and big kudos to the cook. From the vieiras, to the fish and lamb, everything was very tasty and tender. Thank you all!

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite is incredible. Work with Ana to get best deals for you and your guests.
