One night was just not enough in this truly exceptional location. The parador is like a large manor house within ancient castle walls, sited superbly on a promontory looking out to sea. Don't miss walking both around the ramparts (I do like a hotel with its own cannon) which has stunning views of the bay where Columbus's ships sailed in to tell Europe that they had discovered an unknown land across the sea - the Americas! Then walk the lower coastal path beneath the hotel to enjoy a paddle or a sunbathe on the rocky little beaches, or contemplate the crashing Atlantic waves. The parador itself is pleasant, roomy and quite atmospheric. It has a swimming pool with a gated garden, but didnt really enjoy sunbathing there as rather a lot of insects and prefer the pretty little bits of sand, and more local life going on below on the rocks! It is an easy 10 minute walk down to the town and its restaurants and shops. Would definitely return if we can.

We were visiting the lovely resort of Baiona which has lots of nice bars and restuarants and were having a good walk when we saw that for 1 Euro you could visit the grounds of this Parador, which we did. There are nice gardens and a long walk aroung the fortified walls. We stopped off to have a cup of tea on the lovely terrace, great views from here. The tea was a pot of hot water with a tea bag to do it yourself. The tea was so weak and insipid that we asked the waitress for two more tea bags. When we came to pay and continue on our walk, they charged us for 4 teas, we said we had only had two but the waitress said we had had 4 because of the extra tea bags (no more hot walter of milk etc) so we poid nearly 14 Euros for two not so good cups of tea. We are no cheapskates would have been ok to pay 3.50 for one cup of tea and have stayed in some really good hotels which from the reviews this looks like one of them but I do not like being ripped off.

A great hotel in a wonderful location. We've been there for almost ten days and we greatly enjoyed our staying. The views of the Baiona Bay and of the islands are just fantastic. The path to the Hotel and on the ancient walls are worthwhile the visit, in particular at sunrise and sunset. Room, breakfast, and service were good as expected from this type of Hotel. If you are ready to pay more ask for a room with sea view, in the morning the sound of the ocean and of the seagulls is amazing. For runners, the bike path from the hotel entrance going East along the bay is a beautiful course. The center of Baiona is just ten minutes walking down the road with plenty of restaurants and tapas bar.

The Parador has a most beautiful location with 270 degree views. One can walk all round the walls and there is a path at the bottom of the mound. Both are worth the walk. The old town also worth a visit

I stayed on business did not have chance to avail myself of too many facilities though had a quick swim in a slightly cool but clean outdoor pool. There is a restaurant with outdoor seats by the wall which was very good if a bit expensive

The staff very friendly

Would have given 5 stars but no breakfast before 7:30 and their overnight coffee maker had broken down - the only blemish on an otherwise great visit

The parador has a truly lovely setting amongst the old walls and looking out to the Islas Cies (well worth a visit, The Guardian rates a beach there as amongst the 1 best in the world). I found all the staff very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are superb and weather permitting can be taken on a lovely terrace. Also the bar terrace is a super place to have a drink and watch the sun go down. There are two restaurants at the parador and we prefer the tapas restaurant by the small church. Baiona old town itself is a pleasant little town and offers different options for dining out.

Room Tip: Try to get a larger room with a view.

The Parador's photos dont do it justice

Our room was great (huge as well )but one with a sea view would be fabulous .

Fantastic location 10 mins from Parador into the restuarant area.

Breakfast buffet very good .We ate dinner in the town where there is a fantastic variety (dinner 9.30pm onwards )

We would love to return.

Such a relaxing, historical setting with wonderful walks all within the expansive castle walls and also walks on the walls with breathtaking views over the dramatic Atlantic ocean and islands. The hotel is spacious with an impressive entrance and vaulted ceiling, complete with wall hangings, suits of armour and classical paintings. Our room with a view was very comfortable and spacious, the staff were welcoming and friendly, encouraging us with our handful of Spanish phrases that we get by with! The light and huge skies here are amazing, its a very relaxing place and the town has a lovely old quater with chiq shops and lots of places to eat. A wonderful environment to unwind in and our second stay. Thank you to all the staff at the Baiona Parador for making our stay so enjoyable.
