We booked two rooms at this parador on our way to Barcelona from Pedregeur. The rooms had balconies, were very quiet, the hotel grounds have stunning views and the pool was ideal for the children to cool off. The high point of our stat was dinner. We eat a really good Spanish meal in the vaulted dining room. The food was amazing, the staff are fantastic - our waiter and waitress were lovely to us - and drinks on the seating area after dinner were a real treat. The room was cool and quiet at night, and breakfast was both easy and tasty. Staying in a castle, with a pool, having a cracking meal and where the children were relaxed is really special. Yes, a bit expensive, but a night to remember. Well done Parador Tortosa.

What an incredible location! This is not on the typical tourist path of Spain, however it is worth the detour to this beautiful and historic location. The Parador sits on top of a hill in the ruins of a large castle complex. The rooms and halls are filled with historic items and artifacts about the castle. It is worth a walk around the halls just looking at the items.

This was such a beautiful spot. As you walk around the grounds, every view of the surrounding city and countryside holds something interesting. Even if you don't intend to swim, head to the pool and walk around all of the paths leading away from the pool. The pool is situated in the middle of some ruins and there are several paths that lead to wonderful outlooks.

The breakfast was perfect. It was the best breakfast we had our entire trip in Spain. It is a bit pricy, but the choices and quality are worth the cost. Be daring and try the different meats. They were served in mini pans, cooked individually. Grab one and share at your table, then go back for the ones you like.

This is a great location to arrive early, spend the day exploring the Parador and ruins, swim in the pool, and sit on your balcony and enjoy the beautiful weather. It is worth taking a day out of your trip to spend here. After spending a hectic few days trying to see everything in Barcelona, a side trip to Tortosa will give you a chance to see the slower life in a small town with incredible history. The cost of a high-speed train from Barcelona is about 15 Euros. This is worth the side trip.

Room Tip: Make sure to add the breakfast or full board option. It is worth the extra cost. Arrive with enou...

We didn't stay in the hotel but the hotel restaurant is probably worth visiting just for the views of the town and the river Ebro. Food was pretty good but expensive compared to similar Spanish restaurants.

The last Parador on this holiday & once more not disappointed. It is a little tired in appearance but the staff & service, made up for it. What did become apparent is that all of the paradors seem to open & close their restaurant's & cafeteria's at a similar time. We arrived at Tortosa at 15.30 hrs having not eaten since breakfast & ravenous. No food available until 20.30 hrs. We accordingly went off to the town & found a great little tapas bar, might want to think that one through again.

We have stayed in 20 different paradors, most of them in historic castles or monasteries. This one is a former castle. The rooms are large, and it is best to get one with a balcony and views. The hotel as a whole is dated and due for a bit of renovation but is still an interesting short stay. One or at most two nights is all you need to see the town. You certainly won't find better in this area. Combine this with a couple of nights at the Parador in Alcaniz which is fairly close and somewhat better.

This was one dreary parador. Apparently when the barometric pressure changes, sewer smells roil up the drain pipes in the room and make it smell awful. I thought there must be a paper mill or chemical plant nearby. The front desk assured me that everyone who lives there has the same problem in their homes. The parador is quite a hike to town, so you are trapped for food, unless you want to drive those incredibly narrow streets back down to the village. Not at all up to standards expected at a parador. Skip this one!

Room Tip: We had a poor view over adjoining facility and pool. Could ask to avoid that, but better you pick an...

After driving through Tortosa, which looks a bit run down, the Parador looked promising with its castle setting above the town, We had stayed about 15 years ago for one night and thought we'd stay a bit longer this time. Reception staff were on the whole adequate, but there was no warm welcome, and only on checkout did we encounter a really professional staff member. It was quite difficult to get any service in the bar where the staff were quite indifferent. We found our room to be pleasant with a nice bathroom (poor shower). The pool was lovely with a nice seating area surrounding it. Our main concern was that the town was quite dilapidated and we could not find any good restaurants to eat in. We were therefore reliant on the hotel's dining room. The first night we managed to choose enough dishes off the menu to satisfy us, however trying to eat from the same menu the next night was not easy and we both had disappointing meals. The breakfast buffet likewise was very lack lustre. Due to this, and having explored all the town had to offer in 1 day ( Very interesting cathedral and extensive fortifications), we decided to cut short our stay. I would say the hotel is fine for one night but not for much longer.
