Good location and so much history. The hotel truly is a museum. Our room was comfortable, though right on the road, so not the most private! Breakfast was very good and the staff was kind and helpful.

There was no a/c and our room was very hot even with the windows open, it was too hot. Our room smelt a bit damp as well. It was noisy as it was on the road but we needed the windows open to let some air in. There wasn't sufficient parking so we had to park in the public car park about 5 mins walk for 4 euros.
Location was good and the bar offered a good lunch. The rooms were clean and bathroom was decent. Staff were helpful and friendly. Building is lovely and if it hadn't been so hot we might have had a different stay.

The place has some charm and is well located but it needs a makeover. The carpets are old, the rooms lack plugs and the beds sheets. The parking is very limited and not easy. Breakfast was good selection but the wifi sucks, they should buy some new routers.

The rooms are mostly small and very tired, well in need of being refurbishment. There is no air conditioning which would be needed during hot days/nights. If you open the windows, the room is quickly full with flies. Definitely avoid the rooms facing onto the busy street. The traffic noise would be too much. The hotel is on a busy corner which is very dangerous for pedestrians. There should be traffic lights or at least a pedestrian crossing.

The wi-fi in this hotel was the worst we had in seven weeks in Spain. Very poor signal strength. We even had better wi-fi in isolated parts of the Pyrenees where it was by satellite.

The breakfast is very poor and over-priced. Better to eat out of the hotel.

This hotel also appears to be a fire trap.

The only saving grace is that the staff on reception were very helpful.

Santillana Del Mar was no doubt once a very charming town but is spoiled by a lot of tourist tat shops that mar the street scape. During the day and early evening it's overrun by large numbers of tourists which, along with the tacky shops, makes it tourist toy town that has lost it's charm. I left early to spend more time in Bilbao which is far more interesting.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms facing the busy street

It is located at the corner of the heart of the ancient town. Very nice room, but due to this old building a very small room with look to the backyard. They have free parking space in front of the Hotel.
