Loved the relics and sense of history, The Church is on the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela.

this church with charming cloister is nestled in the enchanting town of Santillana del mar (although misnamed..not on the sea). The church is situated at the end of a beautifully preserved enclave of period buildings, not to be missed on a visit to this region of Spain in Cantabria

The Colegiata ( this is the name for a church which is more important than an ordinary church and less important than a cathedral ) is the jewel in the midts of the medieval town of Santillana del Mar ( Cantabria region, Spain ) .
Right by the sea, and sorrounded by the green fields and mountains of this beautiful part of Spain, you will find yourself transported back to the medieval times while you walk the stone-paved streets of this town . Most of them will take you there, to the Colegiata, where you can enjoy how silence turns into beauty while strolling around its cloister . The Colegiata is romanic art at its best , and its beautiful simplicity will provide you with the peace of the sacred places .
If you are travelling around the north of Spain, don´t miss it !!

Not too be missed, a small charge is made but like the whole old town it is fascinating. It is very tranquil full of interesting artifacts.

The calm atmosphere and the exquisite collection of carvings in the cloister make this an amazing place.
