The food was great and quite an experience to cook the chuleton at the table ourselves. The first time we had experienced this but well worth it.
Friendly staff. Good wine and we were lucky enough to sit outside at the end of September.

We ate here initially for breakfast and then had lunch another time and evening drinks. It was one of the few places open for breakfast after our hotel wouldn't serve us breakfast (that's another issue!).

I will start by saying that the service here on our three visits was several degrees of not very good. However, by that time in our stay we were used to local culture and recognised that there were many places we went to where service was quite different to what we'd expect. We saw it as part of the adventure of travelling and were, by the end of our stay, quick to assess what was needed as a customer of an establishment!

On our first visit, it was the morning after the first night of a festival so perhaps the morning staff had been carousing until the wee hours. That would certainly explain the sour faces. Not an ounce of a smile or helpfulness. Certainly no English spoken and very little spoken at all! We managed to get served at the counter with some pointing and smiley grunting (no table service certainly not in the morning) and the early morning pinchos/tapas were excellent. Fresh juice was excellent although, together with the coffees (also excellent) we weren't aware that they were ready for us as they were left at various points on the counter/bar (not together) and the back bar. Pastries were pretty average and quite pricey but then the Spanish aren't noted for their patisserie skills and serve up fairly heavy and dense dough products in the main. They weren't made on the premises most likely. But a good breakfast and apart from pastries, tremendous value.

We also visited one lunchtime when we ended up in the Plaza Mayor after we'd trawled other restaurants looking for a seat. Again the pinchos on the bar were fantastically tasty, very filling and brilliant value. We really were quite happy to spend quite a noisy lunchtime here. Service was marginally better this time but still it felt as though tourists (in a town completely reliant on tourism) were an inconvenience. Locals got served quickly but that's because they could be understood and knew what to shout from their place at the bar.

Drinks in the evening were a lively affair - it's got a prime place in the main square and with a festival on with various local dance and music routines taking place, there was a good atmosphere.

If you're meek and mild, you will find the service fairly appalling. Be brave and bold and go with it and you can play them at their own game and appreciate the excellent food at good prices.

We arrived late for lunch, Spain’s timing I mean, 15h+. It was crowded, but some were almost finishing so we got a table after a short wait. I will say correctly attended considering the tired faced waitress we got. Food very good, “rabas” sardines, and a really convenient menu. At the end 16€ each! Extraordinary value.

Nice friendly bar with AMAZING local tapas! The chorizo in cider was (according to my husband) one of the best things he's ever eaten here in Spain!! (& we live here) The local tapas/pinchos in this bar was exceptional!!
