The house was immaculately clean and very well equipped. A good location in the center of town and we could usually park outside.
The not so good features were that the kitchen, which was very pretty, was not very practical. The plug didn't fit in the sink so it was difficult to wash up. Also there is no draining rack. Cooking facilities are limited to a hob, but no oven, grill or toaster.
We were there in February which was quite cold and we asked the owner for some extra heaters which he was happy to supply.
Excellent spacious classic Canarian house. Two comfortable bedrooms with plenty storage space and two bathrooms - one up one down. All very tastefully decorated with traditional style.
We had two friends staying with us for two of our four weeks.
Big kitchen was perfect for home cooked meals with all you need and conveniently arranged. TV, Wi-Fi, DVD player all worked perfectly. Comfortable homely sitting room with useful local guides. We used heater about three times over the month.
Weather supplied one superb week one fairly cold wet week and two middling. Car useful to go find sun and we settled on car park at foot of San Pedro road which was 50 yards away but always quiet. Always plenty hot water.
Bar next door very friendly and not a problem with late night noise. Loads of restaurants within easy walking distance and all classes and types of food. Alduela for special, la Perla for friendly local, bar next door for coffee and brandy. La Caleta d'interian along coast for nice sandy beach.
Walk from Santiago del Tiede to Masca. Or Buena Vista to el burgado restaurant and spectacular cliffs.
Domingo greeted us on arrival and told us all we needed to know. We would stay here again. The house the town and the general location all perfect if you want to see the beautiful countryside of Tenerife.
Maybe later in the year next time when we can use the sun terrace more often.
We had a wonderful 10 days in this lovely house brimful of character. We were met on arrival, everything was explained and there was everything we could possibly need. The village of Garachico is charming and was a great base to explore nirthern Tenerife. The traditional layout of the house was great and we really enjoyed the inner courtyard and roof terrace. We would definitely go back and thoroughly recommend La Casita.
Nicely and stylishly renovated old canary with attention to smallest detail. We loved to stay there for a week. Dominic's recommendations for restaurants were perfect. Excellent location. If you are sensitive to noise only minor drawback is restaurant next door. Didn't bother us but evening time you can here it in lower ground (living room) but not much in the bedrooms.
Garachico and the surrounding area is arguably the least spoilt coastal area of Tenerife. It is still very Spanish and you find very good restaurants and smal craft shops.
The house is 200 years old, adorable and extraordanary. Well equipped, well treated, with a large roof terrace.
Domingo gave us lots of information. We couldn´t have had a better time.
Thank you very much.
We would love to stay again.
This stunning quirky cannarian house is beautiful. It is fantastically located in Garachico. Domingo made us feel so welcome. The house had everything you can think of it is a real home from home. The beds are so comfortable and it's so quite a Devine space to chill relax and make your home. I'd stay again and I'd recommend to others.
The casita was full of character and homely features. It was our base for the two weeks that we two 70 year olds had chosen to spend on the green side of Tenerife. The drive from the southern airport to the west coast had some minor switchback interest (much less than on our visits to Teide and Masca!) and once there we had good access to Icod, Puerto De La Cruz (botanic garderns), Orotava, La Laguna and beyond. The scenery was awesome.
With few exceptions we were able to park the hire car safely overnight just round the corner from our casita for free but otherwise there was the free public car park across the main road next to a stony black sand beach.
For snacks, tapas, coffees, etc the Tasca De Vinos on Calvo Sotelo never disappointed. La Patisseria a few minutes walk away on the front near the little fortress was excellent for coffees and cakes. For finer dining locally we were mightily impressed by Las Cucharitas (just round the corner) and La Canada De Garachico on the front near the little fortress, all within walking distance. For self-catering supplies there was a small but fairly well stocked supermarket not far past the swimming pools on the front in Garachico and large ones in Icod not far along the coast.
