“Freshly cooked tapas and great service”
Reviewed February 16, 2011

Had lunch here twice last week, in the company of a mixture of tourists and local workmen on their break. Excellent tapas - highlights included tortilla freshly made, peppers glistening with jewels of sea salt, excellent local cheese. Prices clearly displayed on a menu on each table - perhaps an innovation since the last reviewer's visit - and perfectly reasonable. We paid about 20 euros for lunch for 2 including a small carafe of ice cold white wine

“Tourist scam!”
Reviewed January 1, 2011

When you enjoy a nice day at Garachico's seafront and then venture into the village proper to have a snack or meal you will immediately encounter a rustical wooden sign pointing to the nearby "LOS PINOS" advertising their Canarian cuisine and typical Spanish tapas. From the sign it's only a few metres to the entrance of the bar/ restaurant. So you sit down and order some reasonably priced (not cheap, but acceptable) tapas. The portions are rather small to begin with, but taste okay. But then when you ask for the bill you will get the nasty surprise... The drinks (water and lemonade) which (like the other drinks) are not on the menu price list are more expensive then the tapas themselves. Plus there is a non-descript but quite impressive fee for "service". So in the end you will pay more than double what you calculated for the tapas and what you would normally calculate for this kind of drinks in a bar. When we confronted the owner of the restaurant she was not even able to explain which price on the bill should correspond to which of the consumed goods. Clearly a deliberate tourist scam that should be avoided! DON'T GO THERE!
