In the middle of a 90 mile bike ride to enjoy lunch here was fantastic . Dressed in Lycra and not looking my best , made to feel very welcome by a perfect host.My platter of local cheese and ham was exquisite .

“Perfect - don't waste you time looking for a better place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

Perfect view
Amazing food - we often went for both lunch and dinner.
Drinks to die for including the coffee.
The desserts must have added 10 mph to my climbing cycling speed stuff.
Peoples faces light up with delight as they start to eat.
Check evening opening times and days.

“Worth the trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

Went for lunch on a rather overcast day - but views to Palma and beyond still spectacular. The restaurant doesn't lookliie much from the front, but it quickly becomed clear that this is a very professionally run establishment. Service was friendly without being over board. The menu had about 6 tapas choices, then a carte with a small choice for each course. I had goats cheese salad to start, then lmb raviolis, both of which were of a good standard, and made the most of locally available produce. A shared almond cake with ice cream to finish was also good.

Setting is very peaceful, serene even, until motorbikes come up the hill, where everything is amplified by the hill.

Although the road is very twisty, it is quite wide, so not difficult.

“Fabulous.....make the extra effort to go here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

Situated directly above the Soller tunnel on the old Palma-Soller road, 32 hairpin bends but actually a very good road this restaurant is a gem. Overlooking the bay of Palma it's nothing fancy and its very small but the food could not be faulted and the German couple who run the place could not have been more welcoming or friendly. The highlight was a burrata, creamier and better that I ever tasted but accompanied by a sensational orange and pink peppercorn dressing. Have never really tasted pink peppercorns but having commented on how good they were the chef appeared at my side with a vac pack of them - how good is that?

All the food is sourced locally and the Mallorcan wines we had were the best we've had in any restaurants on the island. We arrived with a smile and left with a wonderful memory.

“Wow ! Great people serving fantastic food at the top of the world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

We went here for my mother's birthday lunch at the end of a long hot summer, when most restaurants are winding down after the tourist madness of July and August. Not Annette and Frank though.

This trilingual German couple have run D'alt des Coll for 4 years and she offers a fantastic welcome and service that accompanies Frank's literally amazing food which is cooked with real attention to detail and amazing flavours. It was a refreshing change, and I can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes.

Some restaurant's excel at Tapas, other at great meats, yet others at deserts. Frank seems to do it all effortlessly and the food comes out with great attention to detail and presentation that you wouldn't expect at the top of the hill. His home made bread with olives and local olive oil starts off as the meal means to go on. Honestly, this is some of the best food on the island, and stands head and shoulders over a lot of the others out there, but is served in a relaxed environment where the key goal they obviously have is for their guests to enjoy themselves and turning tables is the last thing on their minds.

Looking out over the bay of Palma from the top of the Soller mountain on the terrace of the restaurant, it reminded us why we moved here and what a great place Mallorca is to live, work and play.

Since it opened, we've always used the tunnel to get to Soller, but I would think twice now and instead go over the mountain on the old road, taking time to enjoy the views and countryside and stopping to enjoy a tapa and cold drink, or coffee and cake on the way back ar D'alt des Coll, both for about the same cost as it would have been to pay the toll to go through the tunnel.... (They open from 11am onwards)

Honestly, this is the kind of place I think twice about reviewing on TA for fear that publicity will spoil it, but these are some of the nicest people I've met in the restaurant business and their food and welcome are deserving of the praise here.

We'll be back - Thank you !

NB - They told us that from Sept 1 2013 they open for Dinner on Friday nights only during the winter, but are open for Lunch Tuesday - Sunday so it may be worth calling ahead and check or on busy days to book a table if you want to be on the terrace (and if its nice you do) .
