“Nice hotel but ...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

Booked with them their "honeymoon suite" for a couple of days and even though I had regular email contact until a day before our arrival, learnt to my surprise that the room was not available when we got there. They did give us an upgrade to another suite but the fact that maybe I had booked the other room for a reason was completely ignored and I would have appreciated it to be informed about it prior to arrival. During our stay it was my wife's birthday and I talked to the manager what could be done. He promised to arrange the breakfast table accordingly but when we got up the next day, it had been forgotten...
Dont get me wrong, it is a nice hotel, conveniently located if you like that part of Mallorca. The hotel restaurant is nice, though pricey but I dont understand why they cant do a better breakfast. It has all the things you need but at the rates they are charging, I expected something more special besides rolls and cold cuts.

it's now over 12 months since our last review of Son Bleda, & 2 more visits to add to our total,
this Hotel has an Outdoor Restaurant with Probably the best View in Mallorca,
just to sit & relax over a bottle of wine (mallorcan Obviously) enjoy Really freshly prepared food
& Watch the sun change the colour of the surrounding Tramuntana Mountains,
this is an experience you must not miss,
even if you don't manage to stay at Son Bleda, and are on the island its worth the trip up to Soller just to experience the restaurant it's food, it's wine & it's views.
since our visit last year work has been done over the winter months re roofing & improving the
Breakfast room, and the installation of a wood burning stove we are now seriously considering
an autumn/winter visit ,
what more can we say,
this place is like a breath of fresh air in the Hotel world,
we can't recommend son bleda enough

Room Tip: this trip we stayed in "Calvia" its a great room if you want to be out of the main buildin...

We didnt stay at the hotel (though would), merely popped in for lunch which was very good value, with unbelievable salads, tapas and pastaand great wine. The view and setting are worth the hairpin bends and we were so impressed, that we have revisited today. Enjoy!

as the title says its our 10 visit in 5 years so we thought it was about time we wrote a revue
we have been reluctant to write sooner as we wanted to keep this absolute gem to our selves
but here goes
we have stayed in most rooms during our numerous visits and each one is brilliant, creativly decorated
with a mix of traditional and modern furniture together with incedible art work throught.
the setting is amazing, just being able to sit on a sun drenched terrace for breakfast and eat it at your leasure and not feel rushed or pressured to get finshed so someone can clear up is like a breath of fresh air,
this time we stayed (last week) it was Ian's birthday they remembered and laid on a special breakfast surprise with a seperate table in the sun, a bottle of best Carva and a birthday cake
made especially in the kitchen that morning

all this shows the levels the staff will go to to make your stay special

so we can't recommend son Bleda enough

Much as it pains me to let anyone else know about this little bit of paradise in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains in Mallorca, it brings me genuine pleasure to help Son Bleda with a well deserved 'excellent' review. My wife and I have both traveled a fair amount and we've stayed at a decent amount of high end hotels; nothing compares to the experience of staying at Son Bleda and this is why we chose to spend a week of our honeymoon there this summer, for what was our 4th time in 5 years at Son Bleda. It just doesn't feel like a hotel; it's more like you've come to stay at Dieter & Thomas's beautiful villa and this is because everything everyone does here is with passion, with love and with heart. And literally the service you get is 100% caring throughout the team, whether you are speaking with the owners or the maid. It's the strongest sign that the high quality approach runs all the way through this place. The breakfasts out on the patio in the sunny mornings are wonderful. The lady who runs the breakfasts, Pama, made me a fresh lemon juice drink every morning, with a fresh lemon from the trees in the grounds. This wasn't part of the normal offering, she did it just to help me. She also made fresh mini P'aam B'oli, fruit salads, fresh meats and cheeses, fresh coffee, fresh croissants - basically if you want it, they've got it! The lunches and dinners at the restaurant are all creative, made with flair, tasty, filling and in the most perfect setting as you sit an watch the hills around you turn from green to orange to pink as the sun sets. We had the Paella on the sunday and it was great, stuffed with fresh seafood and really tasty. And our rooms (we've stayed in a different room each time we've visited) have always been comfortable, with amazing views and each with a distinct style. If you are in any doubt as to how good this place really is, go and find out. You will do exactly what everyone does when they get there for the first time - your eyes will widen and your jaw will drop as you think "I was expecting it to be good, but i didn't expect it to be this good!"

Room Tip: Call and speak with them to choose a room and you will get great advice.

We just had lunch, on our own terrace with spectacular views of the mountains, but afterwards had a look at the hotel and pool.
The lunch menu was good value, and the grilled goats cheese salad and Tapas for two are recommended.
The smallish pool has sun beds with a sea view which is very special. The visit made me consider staying at the hotel as the former monastry has been lovingly restored and it's a very peaceful spot.

We have just returned from the Son Bleda. Now if you have read some of my previous reports you will realise that I am very difficult to please, so you will know the value of this report as I am going to give this hotel full marks. The staff (Particularly Paul) did everything possible to make our stay one of the best we have had on Majorca.
Naturally I do have one negative; the tight wads have not fitted air conditioning in any of the rooms I suspect no one has noticed that Majorca can sometimes be a little hot. Because of this I strongly recommend The Palma sweet as it has a very cool bedroom underneath. With careful use of the shutters and blinds you can keep the top room usable also.
In the off season I strongly recommend that the staff from the hotel Valdemossa and the Costa D’Or visit the Son Bleda and take a training course in the care of guests.
A very special thank you to everyone at the Son Bleda for making our stay a plesent and memorable one, even the strange visitor that came some nights, see picture. (I suspect just a trick of the light).

Room Tip: Go for the Palmer room it has the only cool bedroom.
