“A delightful, typically Mallorcan hotel”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

If you want to enjoy a stay in Mallorca at a friendly, but professional, family run hotel in an area of outstanding beauty, this is the place for you. We stayed in Banyabulfar twelve years ago and the village has hardly changed.

Our second floor room west facing room with wonderful sea views. There is no traffic noise just the sound of the sea.
There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but this wasn't a problem as we would pop downstairs and either bring a tray up to the room or sit in the lounge or terrace with its fantastic views over the Med.
Not having a TV in the room is an advantage as you really relax and switch off...
The breakfasts are very good with plenty of choice and there is an egg bar where you can order omelettes, boiled or scrambled eggs.
The evening meals are of excellent quality and value and the views from the dining room are spectacular.
Sitting around the pool in the beautiful gardens was a pleasure. The majority of guests were away from the hotel during the day, so it was like having our own private pool!
We really enjoyed our stay at this friendly family run hotel . The staff were exceptional and could not do enough for you. We hope to return in the near future.

We stayed here for a long weekend with our five month old baby. The welcome we received was very warm and the views divine. The food was tasty and the hotel near and tidy. Banyabulfar is just a short drive from the airport and nearby esporles serves up some of the tastiest p'amb Oli I have ever had (open sandwiches - the last bar on the square as you head towards Palma).

Joan and his family made us feel so at home and sipping enormous gin and tonics watching the sun set from the terrace will stay with me for a long time

I spent 6 nights here in August 2012, having searched extensively for a place where I could enjoy a few days quiet relaxation.....a tall order in the summer season! This place certainly fits the bill with a large garden with lots of greenery breaking it into secluded corners. Banyanbalfour is on a steep hill, and finding this hotel in the dark on narrow streets was not easy, but there was plenty of free parking. A short walk uphill is the Main Street, with regular buses to Palma. Downhill soon reaches a rocky bay....good for snorkelling, no sand though and shady for some of the day. This part of Mallorca is great for hiking, with the gr221 passing through, and a stunning day walk from valldemossa to déia.

Given its location on a hill, almost all rooms have a full sea view and a small balcony. In fact, pretty much everywhere in this hotel offers extensive sea views with lovely sunsets every evening.

I contacted the hotel directly and they do special offers depending on length of stay; I received free evening meals, which to my surprise were pretty good three course meals, nothing fancy, but perfectly reasonable. Breakfast was excellent, with numerous choices....no need for lunch all holiday!

The room itself was large and spotless. No tv, no wifi and limited phone reception gave a welcome break off grid ( wifi available downstairs apparently). Throughout staff (mostly family) were friendly and welcoming, without being fussy. I will definitely return with family as this is by far the best value place I've stayed at in the island out of over a dozen places.

We stayed 4 nights at the Sa Coma Hotel in September 2012. The location is amazing if you seek stunning views and tranquility. There are no beaches nearby but the swimming pool is very enjoyable. The hotel offers a 3-course evening menu for only 5 euros, the food was okay but for the very reasonable price do not expect something special.
We were disappointed by the rooms, which have not been renovated for a long time. The bathroom and the furniture are out of fashion, and there is no TV. The curtains were damaged. However it was very clean and functional. What disturbed us the most was the poor sound proofing: we could hear the snoring in the neighbouring room loud and clearly. It is a pity because the sunset views from the balcony are truly amazing. For a next visit, we might try a different hotel where we get better value for money.

We have used this hotel for over 20 years, first as a couple and now as a family, and it has never disappointed. For those that don't want to hear our language dominating the buzz of conversation and who do want to holiday with people who respect the needs of other guests, this is paradise. The Tomas family welcome everyone as friends yet give an attentive service so lacking in other places. The rooms have all you need; if you must have a TV, a throbbing nightlife or fussy cuisine then find another hotel. Here complete relaxation and calm can be achieved (though possibly not during school holidays), books read, interesting conversations had and all your needs met. This year a group of us watched the Opening Ceremony until 2 am in the bar with no complaints from Catalina (high point: when Branagh appeared scarcely recognisable to his countrymen, the Swedish and German part of the audience exclaimed, "Oh, it's Wallander"!). There are a couple of good places to eat in the village and one bar for the most potent G&T ever!

Room Tip: All the rooms are the same but second floor sea-facing have the best views.
