It was the second time I stayed at the Atheaton and we had a fantastic time. It is family owned and you can see all the pride that is taken in running this lovely little hotel. The setting is beautiful, in a 19th century Venetian styled mansion and the rooms are decorated with taste and kept very clean. It is in a quiet part of town so sleep is excellent. The wifi connnection works perfectly and I found that the bathrooms were in perfect order (contrary to soem other reviews). However, as most of the reviews state, the nicest aspect of the hotel is the great friendliness of the owners, which, even if Nafplio was not as beautiful as it is, would be more than enough to make you want to return. I certainly will with pleasure and am looking forward to doing so as soon as possible!

We stayed 4 nights in Napflion aat this place. A little ttricky to find but with the help of a friendly policeman we made it. The young lady at receptio was very welcoming and insisted on taking us round to our annexe room and show us everything.

THe room was rather cramped and old fashioned, withn the "en suite" a glorified shower cubicle with a toilet taking a corner out of the room.

Plumbing was overstretched and at times in the morning there was no water for showers or even to brush teeth.

THe mattress was low and hard and pillow thin. Sleeping was uncomfortable.

Breakfast is unusual. They provide butter and jam in the fridge and in the morning deliver bread and cake to the annexe. This meant effectively that we received no breakfast as other families in other rooms took most of it, so we had to eat out.

Overall a tremendously welcoming and obliging staff, but we would think of the floors and the value for money when you are paying 70 Euros a night for a primitive room.

We stayed in one of the small rooms. The building is amazing. An original 19th century neoclassical building with high painted ceiling, thick walls that insulate against heat, old furniture etc. However it seems the room did not have it's own bathroom originally and the owners have made a poorly disguised effort to convert a former closet? To a small bathroom! To make matters worse, it seems that during the time of our stay, the municipality was making water saving cuts during the day. So water pressure was very low in the shower and the toilet did not flush properly. The otherwise talkative and very friendly owners failed to inform us about that in the beginning of our stay. As a result one of us got stranded in the shower, full of soap, unable to rinse!

The friendly Atheaton Guesthouse managers/owners provided great activity suggestions and found precise location and time info for the many great places to see and things to do around Nafplio. We loved the stylish and comfortable suite that offered views of old town and Nafplio fortress. The room was very clean and shiny. Vasiliki cooked for us cake and homemade cheese pie, I have actually ever had. Will stay again someday. Feeling like home.

Room Tip: Excellent homemade welcome drink !!!!!

My husband and I stayed two nights as Atheaton Guest House. The room was nicely furnished, very quiet and centrally located.

The charm of this guest house is really in it's owners who are absolutely delightful! They are always ready to help and guide. She even baked cake for my husband and, since I cannot eat wheat, she prepared a jar of her wonderful homemade marmelade especially for me. The best marmelade I have actually ever had!

We loved the location (not that difficult to find, if you follow directions), the room was very comfortable and cute with a lot of character, and the balcony which tea/coffee was served, but most of all we loved the owners. She was the most gracious host even carrying our bags up the staircase by herself. I think the service is what makes this hotel the best! Oh and the breakfast is amazing! Best breakfast ever, and the owner bakes the most amazing pastries!
