Without a doubt, this is the best accommodation I've stayed in anywhere throughout Europe. We found this hotel three years ago and made certain we reserved a room during our last two trips to Greece. The owner, family, and staff are incredible people who have made my wife and I feel as if we are part of their families. I cannot adquately describe how wonderful our experiences have been at Hotel Aetoma. The rooms are immaculate, modern, large, and extraordinarily comfortable. The air conditioning is superior and provides the exact climate needed by these two Alaskans at the close of a hot Mediterranean day. The breakfast is fantastic, nutritious, filling, and delicious (as is all the food in Greece). Everyone (owner, family, and staff) at his beautiful hotel is extremely interested in making each client as comfortable as possible. If Nafplio is on your itinerary, you must put Hotel Aetoma at the top of your accommodations list.

We have just returned from two and a half weeks in Greece. We enjoyed, for the second year in a row, our three night stay at Hotel Aetoma.

We arrived at around 6:30 in the evening to a big warm hug and greeting from Kerry who immediately remembered us from last year. We had a lovely catch up chat and then settled into our room (Kerry carried up one of our bags - she must spend her entire off time lifting weights!!). We remembered many of the prior year's restaurant recommendations but confirmed our choice with Kerry before heading out for the evening. Nafplio is everything we remembered with beautiful marble lined streets and street side restaurants and cafes. The new museum, in the town square, has now opened and it is well worth a visit

After a very much needed night's sleep we were again greeted by Mrs. Pan's outstanding breakfast - we had asked Kerry the night before for a scaled down version with fruit salad, yoghurt and honey and fresh breads (we are not large breakfast eaters and didn't want to waste food). It was still a huge feast and I saved the second dish of yoghurt and honey for later that day. Mrs. Pan's homemade baking and preserves make the whole breakfast experience great - be sure to try her coconut cake if she has some available; mmmmmm.

Because it was our second trip we were less awe struck and had the opportunity to check out the hotel and room in detail. Everything in the hotel is immaculate with obvious regular maintenance and care given to everything. You would be hard pressed to find a single curl in the wallpaper, chip in the paint not to mention that the place is clean, clean, clean. You feel like you are the very first person to stay there. We still found the whole place beautifully decorated and the attention to detail just adds to the homey feeling you experience. To add extra stars to an already 5 star hotel the bathroom is modern with a wonderful shower which was a welcome treat after 10 days in the Greek Islands.

We booked the same room this year, which is on the top floor with a lovely wrap around balcony with a great view of the castle and fresh mint growing in the flower pots. When you stay in this room you have the choice of having breakfast on your private terrace or going downstairs to the lobby area. We did both during our stay and I strongly recommend doing this as it gives you the opportunity to not only meet the hotel's other guest but get to know Mrs. Pan, the owner of the hotel and the most lovely individual you could ever meet. She works so hard to ensure that every guest has the best possible stay. The other members of Mrs. Pan's team are Kerry and her son (who's name unfortunately I didn't get) who are is equally wonderful and everyone is willing to help with a restaurant recommendation, direction assistance to the local sites and anything else you might require.

We also went into Tolo, the beach town 15 minutes down the road, and enjoyed a drink at the Red Rock bar. The bar is built into the side of a hill overlooking the beach and water. It was hot when we were there and the lovely breeze while sitting there having a beer was a welcome relief from the heat. If you want to spend the day on the beach Kerry, as well as the rest of the team, can assist with organizing a beach chair and umbrella.

I could literally go on for pages about this gem of a hotel and the team who run it but needless to say we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

If you have specific questions I would be pleased to answer them.

Alison

We stayed at Aetoma for 2 nights. The small hotel is located in a fantastic location and our room which faced the interior street was clean and comfortable with an awesome shower. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted and given an introduction of the town and suggestions for restaurants and beaches. The suggested restaurants were fantastic so good we returned for lunch and the pebbled beach which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel was pleasant as they rent lounge chairs and there is a place to get food. Breakfast at the hotel is wonderful with fresh greek pastries, yougurt, cheese and meats. Definitely make sure you visit Antica Gelateria di Roma. The gelato is fantastic and the Italian family who owns it are so charming. If we make it back to Nauplion I would stay at the Aetoma again.

This treasure is your reward for navigating the narrow, crazy streets of old Nafplion! The hotel itself is a gem - an elegantly remodeled classic family home featuring five guest rooms, nestled in an area of great shops and restaurants close to the waterfront. Once settled in your charming, yet modern room, Carrie (the afternoon/evening concierge) is at your service. She speaks English (a welcome relief!) and patiently offers great advice on restaurants and best routes. Each morning, we walked outside our room to find that the reception area had been transformed into a quaint white table-clothed dining room featuring a mouth-watering and beautifully presented Greek breakfast! Panny, the hotel's gracious owner, serves some of her own homemade pastries and treats, along with yogurt, fresh fruit and juice, coffee, rolls, meats and cheeses. To tell you the truth, we didn't want to leave!

AMAZING! The second we walked in, the very helpful staff guy told us everything we needed to now about Napflio - where to eat, drink, take pictures, sights to see, everything - and marked it all on a map for us. There is a gorgeous, fresh breakfast served until noon (big plus) and free wi-fi in your room. There are only 5 rooms, 4 off a central hall where you eat breakfast and then a luxury room on the top floor. The hotel is 3 minutes from the main square by foot (it's a small town). Our room was the KIONOKRANO room - huge, really comfortable bed; sensational power massage shower; nice TV; free water; fold-out couch. It was fantastic. With the staff ultra-helpful and the comfort factor so high, it is highly, highly recommended.

We recently returned from a 3-week vacation in Greece. The excellent reviews of Aetoma by others made this hotel selection an easy one, and it more that lived up to what we expected. The hotel is an mansion that has been in the family for generations. Every inch of the hotel is clean and well-appointed. We stayed in a triple room with a roughly 12-foot ceiling and a terrace overlooking Spyridon Square, a flower-drenched little square surrounded by a couple of small churches, a Turkish fountain, and lots of ambience (like the hotel itself). The owner does everything she can to please. The breakfast is varied, fresh, and very good. The owner's assistant Kelly is always helpful in every way.

As charming as Nafplion and its environs are, this fine hotel enhances the experience many times over. This is only my second Trip Advisor rating after many years of travel. You frequently see 5-star superlative ratings for hotels that do not live up to expectations.
This hotel deserves 5-stars, without exception.

Mrs Panagiota and Carrie make you feel immediately at home. They are friendly and caring without being intrusive. The hotel itself is 160 years old and has been in the family of Ms. Pangiota for the past 120 years.

The hotel is located in an ideal setting in old town Nafplion. The rooms are spotless with the best shower in all of Greece. For those with disabilities, there is a flight of stairs up into the hotel. There is no lift or elevator. If you can manage the stairs, someone will help you with your luggage. For those without physical limitations, the Aetoma is "home away from home." This is the perfect location to stay to while you plan side trips to see Mycenae, Epidarius, Tiryns and Corinth. However, don't forget to enjoy Nafplion itself! It is a beautiful and romantic city with much to see and do!

We loved our spacious and impeccably clean room, the "Kionokrano." It included the most comfortable king bed, a sofa and a desk to work with your lap top, love seat, side chair, refridgerator and safe. We also had internet access. Our terrace added ambiance.

The owner, Ms. Panagiota is wonderful. Her smiling, calm and caring demeanor as she served the most delicious, fresh and elaborate breakfast was a treat not to be missed. We were fortunate enough to stay at the Aetoma for two nights. Had time allowed, we would have stayed longer.

To provide a comparison, we also stayed at Katikes in Oia, Santorini. Because of its size, the Aetoma obviously does not provide some of the same ammenities as the Katikes. But it does provide the same quality in service, attention to detail, breakfast and cleanliness as the Katikes. This hotel is beautiful and does provide an escape into a calm romantic charm.

Well done and thank you for a lovely and unforgetable stay! We hope to return one day.
